RE: DfT grants £40m to retrofit 2,768 buses - NewcastleOne - 08 Feb 2018 My Guess would be Ex London arriva buses Scania Omnidekkas (GNE) Some Solars (GNE) Part of the Newer Stagecoach NE ALX300s RE: DfT grants £40m to retrofit 2,768 buses - Malarkey - 08 Feb 2018 (08 Feb 2018, 9:01 pm)Michael wrote Wonder what buses will get them fitted in the NE? Quite surprised up here it hasn't been split more evenly between the councils with Sunderland and County Durham councils benefiting also rather than those in close proximity of Newcastle, Which makes me think this is specifically aimed at making Newcastle City Centre a Greener Zone for Buses. Most of the buses in Sunderland are Euro 5/6 anyway, only a hand full of older buses are euro 3/4 in Sunderland, the reserve darts at Stagecoach and the 3 buses on loan to Deptford (4937 and the 2 Vykings). It may be they didn't bid or their bids were unsuccessful. In some areas up here, the funding amounts have fallen from last year. Regarding the buses getting treated to the retrofitting, there is a column which outlines the vehicle numbers to be given the treatment in each LA area. A good detective may be able to work out the likely suspects RE: DfT grants £40m to retrofit 2,768 buses - Michael - 08 Feb 2018 (08 Feb 2018, 9:51 pm)Andreos1 wrote It may be they didn't bid or their bids were unsuccessful. On my phone so can't access the fleet list properly but i would guess the euro 4 Omnicities and versa's could be in with a chance. Not sure for Stagecoach tbh, i would think the MAN's won't have long left RE: DfT grants £40m to retrofit 2,768 buses - Pulsar - 08 Feb 2018 Maybe some of the euro 4 Enviro 400's that Stagecoach have could be upgraded? There are 51 of them according to the fleetlist on here, they were new 2007 and 2008. Just thinking this as the routes they are used on spend a lot of time in the city centre and other areas under the control of Newcastle City Council. In comparison an Omnicity used on the 11 (or Toonlink) service only briefly passes through Newcastle. Would probably bring the most benefit if a Newcastle Centre low emissions zone is planned to upgrade the buses which pass through the most.
