Newcastle Clean Air Zone: services which need to be upgraded - Citaro5326 - 03 Mar 2020 So just been thinking with CAZ coming very soon the 26/27/57 need to get replacements and what i am thinking was 5442-5451 & 5463-5480 head to riverside and send the citaro's to Hownsgill and Deptford, in a way downgrade but same spec ? I've heard that as a rumour already. Would make sense, but doesn't seem "fair" on the routes that justified nice new buses being palmed off with buses ready to be disposed of. Claim what you want about Citaros being nicer than Streetlites, they're certainly no where near as reliable. Dont forget the 8 saltwell park streetlites will be available soon. As far as I'm aware, streetlites can be upgraded to euro 6 RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2020 - Malarkey - 03 Mar 2020 (03 Mar 2020, 9:18 pm)JP6004 wrote 6/12/26/27/57 will all be affected. Volvo B9TL's 6001 to 6007, 6049 to 6055, 6149 to 6161 6118 to 6121 as we already know are going to East Yorkshire Wright Streetlites 5409 to 5418, 8339 to 8346 Mercedes Citaros 5275 to 5284, 5294 to 5318, 5320 to 5325 5481 to 5487 as we already know will be withdrawn from service Optare Versas 5377 to 5384 and 5389 RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2020 - Big O - 03 Mar 2020 (03 Mar 2020, 9:48 pm)streetdeckfan wrote I'd imagine the E400s are just as efficient, if not moreso than the vehicles they run instead If they're the Cummins models, I'm quite sure they can. Ironic that in many instances the Streetlite replaced heavy duty vehicles such as the B7RLE, yet the latter is more future proof than the rattling monstrosity. Go North East’s preferred contractor for the Euro 6 exhaust modifications is Eminox, who don’t have any options to upgrade Streetlites from Euro 5 to Euro 6. There’s a possibility of a whole engine conversion, which I think (stand to be corrected) is what Stagecoach have done on MANviro 300s 24101-15, but this is presumably a lot more costly. I don’t think it’s a case of being more future-proof. Manufacturers probably don’t expect operators to carry out these modifications to their buses post-delivery. The exhaust modifications are all about removing particulate matter and other harmful gases, which bring the bus in line with that of a standard Euro 6 diesel bus. The Streetlite, especially those with the Micro-Hybrid package, are already very clean and much more environmentally-friendly than other Euro 5 buses. Wrightbus presumably therefore wouldn’t have expected any further modifications to be made. Definitely gonna be an interesting year for cascades. Interested to see what will replace the Citaro's on the Newcastle routes... is it the 1st January 2021 when the CAZ zone comes in to force. Rumours seem to suggest that the X1 B9s might end up replacing the Crusaders and the X9/X10 B5s replacing the X84/X85. I wonder if some of the Streetlites that are replaced by the StreetDecks could then replace the Citaros and Omnicitys on the 6/12 RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2020 - Rapidsnap - 04 Mar 2020 Weren't some of 6149-6161 going onto the Loop. Don't think the buses for the 58 are due this year, so the Versas prob remain until 2021, plus they can be upgraded to Euro 6. Rough guess would be Red Arrow B9s to the 26/27 whilst which ever of 6149 - 6161 that don't go on the loop go to Hexham for the X84/X85 until the new buses for the X9/X10 arrive. Euro 6 Streetlites to go on the 6/12/57? To be honest, the main thing that has annoyed me about the late StreetDecks is the fact they won't be 69 plates anymore! RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2020 - L469 YVK - 05 Mar 2020 In the live Q&A, it was mentioned that the X1 PVR is 14. I've had a look and it's actually 13 unless the 14th is a misc working which will be allocated an X-Lines E400MMC to ensure consistency. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2020 - Rapidsnap - 05 Mar 2020 The Volvo Olympians were stirling performers on the X10 (and X9). Spectras were trialled for a little bit but their London Spec meant their top speed was a bit low. Then before that you had Cummins L10 Olympians on the X10, but age was a factor in taking them off. Before that the X1/X10 when United / Tees and Northern it was a mixture of Olympians (Cummins from Go and Gardener from NEB), Metrobuses (Go Only), Tigers (Both), and prob the odd Leyland National Mk2 from Go-Ahead too. I've recently seen that they can via Eminox. I wonder when CAZ is due to start, and how different Go North East services will be as a result? I am debating whether to come this August or for example next May? I may well come soon if the final ex-London Volvo double-decker face withdrawal before CAZ. I still think the replacement for the Crusaders should be the Red Arrow B9s. PVR would be an issue unless they cut the 26 short. Mercs unlikely to be allocated to the 5/50 due to the Omnicities now being Euro 6 RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - March 2020 - BusLoverMum - 15 Mar 2020 (15 Mar 2020, 4:52 am)6049 wrote If Black Cats and Diamond's are Euro 6, they'll almost certainly be reallocated onto a route which goes into the CAZ. 6/12 and 26/27 would be the obvious choice. I'd like to see the B5Hs to be reallocated to 50 some point in future. As they short wheelbase, be ideal providing extra capacity but also being more cost effective. While also maintaining euro 6 emission (once the new engines are fitted) Sent from my SM-A505FN using Tapatalk |
