Jet2.com - legend - 11 May 2013 Jet2 have leased G-POWI from Titan for this summer at Newcastle, supposedly it's covering for a 733 which has not been is condition as expected after purchase from last operator. It's a wet lease so the crews on it will be Titan too. It has been liveried though however extremely basic with white body below red lettering. Should be interesting to see if Jet2 also use this as a trial run for Airbus overall as so far they operate an all Boeing fleet of 733/QC/F , 738 and 752s!!! RE: LS lease A320 - NEB Admin Team - 11 May 2013 Thanks for sharing this! There's a photo here by Marcus Gilmour - http://www.flickr.com/photos/marcusgilmour/8722637619/ I've always been fond of Jet2's operations, and as you say will certainly be interesting if this possibly results in any future orders with Airbus. I'd be very surprised if Jet2 weren't taking the opportunity to trial this during the lease. RE: LS lease A320 - legend - 13 May 2013 I have the summer operations confirmed by LS taking into account the A320 below: "A total of 6 aircraft will be based at NCL for S13. Planes aint really my thing - so dont really understand the lack of apparent lack balance in their rotas. One of my brothers loves them and is an active member of pprune. RE: LS lease A320 - tyresmoke - 14 May 2013 Don't forget 2 of the 733s (the QCs) have to be back by 9pm Mon-Fri in preparation for working the mail flights to EMA and STN RE: LS lease A320 - legend - 15 May 2013 (13 May 2013, 9:09 pm)Andreos1 wrote Why the quiet day on a Tuesday? Cost of slots seem to be higher at airports abroad on that day... sometimes an aircraft will not operate a single flight on that day. RE: Jet2.com - tyresmoke - 21 Aug 2013 Jet2 today launched short break flights to New York and Toronto in April. These will presumably be operated by the 757 fleet. RE: Jet2.com - tyresmoke - 04 Dec 2013 Probably worth mentioning here that Jet2 have lost the contract to fly the Royal Mail Skynet route to Stansted, it will be operated by West Atlantic from January. They retained the East Midlands route. Looks like 2 738s are already being used but not sure if 757 or 733 are additional a/c RE: Jet2.com - 8222 - 03 Sep 2015 http://www.jet2.com/News/Jet2_com_Announces_Significant_Investment_in_Additional_Aircraft/ Nice to see them fork out for some new machines. Presumably using up freed up slots on the NG production line before the MAX line is up and running properly. Unless they can work with Boeing to develop a QC version of the -800. Unless they can work with Boeing to develop a QC version of the -800. To be honest, I think the QC models will stick around, especially with them investing in glass cockpits for them, as I read somewhere. Some of their 757s are from the 1980's - I think these would be first to go. The only other thing for LS to do if they wanted to up their cargo revenue is to invest in containerised aircraft, as per BA short haul fleet. Apparently that's why A321s are often rotated up to NCL if there's a big demand for cargo space (I've been on a few, but they were all full anyway!). With this order of 738's - it doesn't seem to be likely. RE: Jet2.com - NK53 TKT - 27 Jan 2016 I'm off Jet2 on Saturday to Chambery and I believe one of their Boeing 737-300s has had a technical fault meaning I may get a 737-800 or better still a 757! G-GDFK, that flew me out was supposed to take me home; however, the flight left Newcastle at 8:15am, and was diverted to Lyon, because the plane was then due to fly to Edinburgh and then back to Newcastle via Chambery, it flew light to Chambery and flew out to Edinburgh 6 hours late. To stop further inconvenience, Jet2 flew G-GDFG an Edinburgh based 733 to pick me and fly the people out from Edinburgh. I arrived back at 20:47 instead of the planned 18:45. G-GDFG took G-GDFK's place a Newcastle giving Edinburgh G-GDFK in exchange. RE: Jet2.com - 8222 - 20 Feb 2016 (13 Feb 2016, 11:21 am)NK53 TKT wrote I had G-GDFG, a 733. The last time I flew LS was to Prague. I had one of their 733s. They're not badly kept internally, considering their age, but nowadays, I'd much rather have a BA/EZY Airbus for short haul. If you go long haul - aim for a BA 77W; gorgeous aeroplanes. That said, they don't feel quite as sturdy as their wonderful, but a bit tired, 744s for a transatlantic hop. That, and their moving map seems to break the IFE! At least it did on G-STBL. RE: Jet2.com - NK53 TKT - 20 Feb 2016 (20 Feb 2016, 9:49 am)8222 wrote That sounds like a bit of a nightmare. At the beginning of last month I went easyjet to Belfast on G-EZFB, it had just been repainted and was considerably better than Jet2's 733's. I am going to Mexico or Aruba in 2017 with Thomson on a dreamliner if not, if I get my own way St Maarten with Air France/KLM. I get a dreamliner again in 2018 to Florida as well as a 757 to Newark from Belfast because the NCL-EWR flights are seasonal starting in May and it's for a week so Jet2 is not an option. We'll go easyjet to Belfast then United or Aer Lingus. Possibly BA but probably not. I believe this year is the last to be reviewed by United in Passenger Numbers and if passenger numbers are healthy ( Which they are on that route ) then United are apparently turning it into a year round service by 2017 or 2018.
