685 on Northern Rail strike days - DeltaMan - 01 Oct 2022

Do Arriva only allocate single decks to the 685 when the trains are off?

Every single Arriva 685 single decker I've seen has looked unbearable to be on. Standing loads along the A69!

Gold medals all round and a sure-fire way to keeping those customers from returning to Rail....

You generally don't interfere with strikes so if a bus is allocated a single decker then you should allocate a single decker today. Allocating deckers today would be 'bailing' out Northern. People who can't get on the bus today won't be annoyed at Arriva, they'll be annoyed at Northern.

The 5/9/24 triangle in Sunderland is singles aswell which could have serious problems especially on the 9 considering it has to carry the normal football traffic, plus Jarrow, Fellgate, East Boldon and Brockley Whins Metro passengers aswell. The same as the 22/23/24 triangle with Arriva for similar reasons.

They'll also say "why couldn't they put a double decker on", feeding the negativity loop.

Couple out on the 44 today....

The 22/23/24 often have deckers, anyhow, so that would be nothing unusual.

Full standing load on the 9 coming over the A19 from Fellgate heading towards Sunderland with Red and White shirts on board about an hour or so ago. Glad I'm off.

Aye they're packed I've just left the SOL and there must be 50+ people waiting outside Tesco Roker and just passed on there packed to the rafters - no doubt over capacity but I won't complain about that, believe it was 25 minutes late aswell.
