RE: Stagecoach 2014/2015 Order - tango - 05 Mar 2014

Any ideas what Stockton look set to recieve this year?

RE: Stagecoach 2014/2015 Order - Malarkey - 05 Mar 2014

562 New Buses, Good God that is a Massive Order, I think the most interesting order is for the Volvo B5LH's for London, Quite Stagecoach isn't ordering any Borismasters for there London Operations to be Honest despite how Expensive they are.

Stagecoach are getting New Routemasters, it's just the companies don't place the order for them - TfL do.

As for the North East order, all I can disclose is 28018-40 (the 23 Gas Buses). Other details have to remain under embargo until a later date.

Well with 199 ADL Enviro 200 Dart 4 midibuses, you'd think Stockton would get some wouldn't you, I also think those Euro 6 E400's will end in either Stagecoach Gold Livery or a Special Variation Livery like the Hybrids/Gas Buses, Hopefully a few of them will end up at Walkergate/Slatyford, My guess would be for the 62/63, as have had 10000 on loan for god knows how long now.

RE: Stagecoach 2014/2015 Order - Tom - 05 Mar 2014

For Cumbria, I reckon they will get some ADL 200's for their Carlisle City network, allowing the Darts to replace B10M's and the the MAN ALX300's at Kendal/Carlisle. Also, I reckon the 555 could get a upgrade to Stagecoach Gold, with 8 X ADL 400 bought, allowing 15723-29 to be released to Barrow for the 6 (Windermere/Croftlands-Ulverston-Barrow) allowing 18140-44 to displace Olympians. 15729 would be spare so that could replace 18357 at Carlisle on the 554.

Also, the Open Top Tridents will need to be replaced in the next year or so, but what could be a possible replacement?

Wrong - Stockton isn't a midibus depot, but there are vehicles on order (and even putting that, I think I've said too much).

The 38 Gold vehicles are not yet known, bar 13 of the Scania E400s going to Cambridge to replace the 13 that were down to go there on the 2013/2014 order however ended up going to Torquay for their new 'Gold' service which was due to compete with First's X80 service but instead ended up replacing the route.

The 29 Euro6 E40Ds (the chassis designation for the E400 integral) are all going to Manchester. It's also been said that 10000 will be returning to Manchester.

Carlisle will be getting new vehicles for the 685. As for the 555, as those Scanias are only 3 years old and it is the flagship route of the Lakes so won't get an upgrade for another 2 years or so (most flagship routes are updated every 5 years).

Oh right, do you know what could possibly be a upgrade to the Open Top Tridents?

More Tridents, I think however you'll see 17012-6 hang on until the end of the 2015 season maybe even until the end of the 2016 season which is when they will have to be replaced (non-DDA deckers have to be replaced by the end of 2016). By then, the 2004-reg Tridents with Merseyside and South Lancashire will be old enough to be converted. That or it will be further ex-London examples.

Yes, what I'm saying is that those are the only vehicles on the order for the North East that can be confirmed - as we've know about them for months.

RE: Stagecoach 2014/2015 Order - tango - 06 Mar 2014

I've just read in route one magazine this morning that with regards to the 38 gold standard vehicles in this year's order it is still yet to be confirmed which routes they are to be awarded to, now if as kuyoyo says 13 are to be for the south, that leaves 25 vehicles still in need of a home, I read recently in the stagecoach north east thread some criptic looking posts between members as to the number of vehicles expected at Stockton this year somewhere between 20-25, so could it be that Stockton operated routes 36/37 and possibly 38 are in line for an upgrade to gold standard, and that this is why nothing can be confirmed by those in know yet as it has still yet to be announced by stagecoach themselves.
Of course I could be barking up the wrong tree completely lol

Definitely barking up the wrong tree there, in fact in the wrong wood full stop... lol
Certainly being spread around the drivers now that Stockton are getting 25 ADL Enviro 300 for the 36/37/38 group of services. This should enable 25 ALX300s to be withdrawn, with the MAN E300s expected to be cascaded onto Middlesbrough based services 11/12/14/34

Which, to help people see something here and now, means while some Middlesbrough services will see an improvement in terms of capacity thanks to the MAN E300s (sadly there's not enough to cover all of the Middlesbrough work), the 36 will actually see a decrease in capacity as the ECWTA-spec E300s can only hold 70 passengers compared to the capacity of the MAN E300s which I can't recall off hand (certain a drop of 5 seats per trip compared to the MAN E300s).

Deffinately in the wrong wood lol nice to see Stockton getting some long overdue investment at last though.

Kuyoyo was probably doing as he was told by keeping quiet. Tyresmoke spilled the beans for the only other 'unknown' investment, following on from posts such as the one given below... Angel

In addition to the gas buses, they are the only other buses coming to the North East via direct investment. Other buses could still make their way to the North East fleet by cascades from other regions though, as the North West is certainly expecting quite a number of vehicles...

I'm explaining, the Gas Scanias are (or were, now the cat's out of the bag about Stockton's order) officially the only ones that are supposed to already be in the public domain. Hence, they are the only ones that's destination can officially be disclosed because it's already well know.

Dan has hit the nail on the head - I've know about new vehicles for Stockton for the last 3 weeks, and had heard rumours from drivers in the weeks leading up to the date I got the confirmation, which incidentally was the day of the launch of 28001-17. I was told that day to keep quiet until closer to the time. It's this reason the Stockton Open Day is delayed until later this year - so to launch the E300s at the event.

As for external cascades, remember Stockton are still 4 Tridents outstanding. Plus, the City Sightseeing Fleet turns 24 this year (and are, by far, the oldest vehicles used in service in not just the North East but in the Stagecoach UK fleet outside of London). Apart from that, the last vehicles transferred into the North East from outside the region before 17025-9/32 were 16431-7 in 2003 so I'd be amazed if much did arrive from other regions when most still have Olympians and B10Ms to replace as well as non-DDA single deckers.

Out of interest, do the City Sightseeing buses (nationwide for that matter), have a deadline to comply with the equality act?

DDA? Yes as they operate on registered (fare taking) services and therefore have to meet the deadline.
I suppose it depends on when the franchise is next up for grabs or whatever.

Same deadline as normal service vehicles - as they operate as registered services, they have to be DDA-compliant by 1st January 2017. Newcastle is currently the only Stagecoach-operated franchise that still uses high floor vehicles (and has always used the oldest vehicles of the 3 owned franchise anyway).

Suppose it could get 17012-16 from Cumbria?

They aren't DDA - any Tridents for City Sightseeing will come from examples retained once their life in London comes to an end.

Not sure they're DDA compliant though? Depends how much it would cost to do so versus converting some newer ex London stock though...

A surprising addition to the order - this is not related to the North East but is part of the order
