Voltra Yutong 8809 on loan to Transdev
Just seen this tweet from Alex Hornby that Transdev (Harrogate Bus Company) have 8809 on demonstration from Go North East.

More testing times, this time with @PelicanYutong ’s electric single decker as we continue trials ahead of future investment in zero emission for
@harrogatebus #the1

Great to have a drive for a change - and a nice drive it was too

I thought GNE didn't loan their vehicles out to other operators...

I'm sure Dan or MG said that when they were asked if they'd loan out 6377 (the 6 cylinder StreetDeck) to other operators to try out.

It seems weird seeing the LED Destinatioj Display saying Harrogate instead of 53/54 or even 33/33A

First Eastern Counties would be the most logical choice for 6377 as they coukd in return give GNE one of the Scania N250UD E400MMC Citys

The issue is that response shouldn't be required, and wheelchair users should be able to board buses. Obviously a broken ramp is slightly different (provided it was checked and worked on a first use inspection, and the defect happened in service), but the reports on here and elsewhere indicate that GNE have been knowingly sending out vehicles that cannot safely board wheelchair users at various bus stations, due to the centre door position of the ramp.

This isn't a loan, strictly speaking.

8809 has been down to Pelican to have some work done to it, and on its way back north, has been shown to The Harrogate Bus Company. It won't be used in service.

I'd imagine you could probably just about do the return journey on one charge?

I was wondering if it was a tactical charging point and the opportunity to do some mutual back-patting was too good of an opportunity to turn down.

Not the best photo op. Doesn’t even look like a passing shot. Parking the bus in such a way to block traffic to get out and take a photo for Twitter.

To be fair, it is a bus stop!

Aye, albeit poorly designed, it’s quite right to use the stop functionally in the business of carrying passengers. Harrogate is a pretty town, there’s a hundred places a photo could have been taken where traffic wouldn’t have been inconvenienced. If I was stuck behind when the driver parked up for a snap I wouldn’t be left with the best impression of buses.

It's Knaresborough that like. Doesn't make much different to your point mind but just thought I'd say.

Passenger Transport seem to be saying it is going to be on trial for a while.

I notice they say 'is being loaned to Transdev', but isn't 8809 back up here now?

Maybe it's just a delay in publication
