Steven Knight Media reported a while back that service X34 could possibly be moving to Walkergate Depot? If this does happen hopefully there will be more buses from Newcastle later in the evening, and Stagecoach would no-longer need to issue an apology on twitter for a single decker being used as there should be more chance of a spare decker being available here in the event of a mechanical failure or severe delay.

I wonder if the vehicle allocation will also change - some gas buses appearing on the E's with some of the ADL E300s appearing on other Sunderland routes? Hopefully this will mean that Sunderland depot could get more gas-powered buses in the future?

Any chance of the X34 being extended to South Shields Interchange when it opens? When is the new interchange opening?

It will never be extended to to the town centre. As that would result in the Marsden loop being removed or buses having to double back on themselves. 

Better off extending the X20 From Fellgate to Heworth and Gateshead/Newcastle. Even if still only hourly I believe it would get the custom.

Doubt it, don't see any need of it going to South Shields. Plenty of buses go from Horsley Hill, Harton and Marsden to Shields, and express buses are never going to stand a chance of competing with the Metro to Newcastle.

I wonder if the X20/30s could interwork with the Es when they move to Sunderland?

The current 30 interworks with the 10/11
X20 is a 1 PVR

More than enough room.  The Wheatsheaf used to house upwards of 120 buses in the Busways days.

Ahh well never mind,tbh i didnt think it would last i suppose a factor of the night buses failures would be that people have became customed to either catching the last bus home or taking a taxi,some even get that bladdered in town that before they know it the Metro is on

Think the main problem was that the likes of the N1, N39 and N40 in particular served places that you can easily get a taxi too at a reasonable cost. Plus if there's four people splitting a taxi fare, the taxi would win over cost on most. Believe the N88 did ok, which was probably down to it serving outside of the main city.

Put it this way if they do not use the bus station there is going to be at least 75% of the new station not in use. So I'm guessing as they use the old station the will move to the new one. Hence the change on VOSA

One tends to transfer to Shields, well has for the past two years for the Es PVR increase, although with Sunderland operating these services I am not sure if they will receive an additional decker.
