Given they sold it to Arriva I think that’s unlikely

Freeman Hospital - Freeman Road - Benton Park Road - Four Lane Ends - Benton Lane - Quorum Retail - Benton Lane - Westmoor - Great Lime Road - Southgate - Killingworth Bus Station - West Bailey - Station Road - Front Street - Burradon Road - Means Crescent - Weetslade Road - B1321 - March Road - Fern Drive - Dudley Lane - Manor Walks (NIS to roundabout at Newlyn Drive/EWLR)

West Road to former Findus factory is looking like it will be a popular passenger flow

It'll be interesting mind if these have an impact on the 62 and 63 at the Killingworth side. The 62 and 63 are now a bit of a, why would you use these services, in Killingworth now ignoring freqency if living near the 37 route.

Longer to Newcastle than the X63
Longer to FLE / Quorum than the 37
Quicker to ???-  Byker? Not sure why anyone wants to go there though.

I get there's still flows to Killingworth from Longbenton and Forest Hall but not sure they need a bus every 15 minutes.

Potential maybe to up the 62 / 63 across Newcastle to every 10 minutes each and terminate 1 out of 2 at FLE with them being every 20 minutes or even less beyond there maybe? There's clearly issues in the core of the route.

yes, i agree with this, the problem is that, the core section of the route, i would say from central motorway, through town, byker, chillingham road is where the bulk of the delays occur

It's not unusual for an authority to support services outside of their operating area and this situation isn't really unusual at all. Nexus already support evening services between Newcastle and Cramlington for example.

Durham CC support services into Hartlepool, being another example.

It's to give Weetslade an evening / Sunday service. It's always been subsidised but used to be part of the Wallsend to Cramlington service instead (17, 81, 42 and that lot) but moved to the 52 when GNE binned it off a few year ago.

Not sure whether the 37 is commercial between the Freeman and Killingworth though.

https://www.travelnortheast.co.uk/downlo...17-17A.pdf - See it in the timetable there.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
not to be pedantic and i do see what you both mean bus inst NEXUS funded by the councisl of the old tyne and wear. So people in northumberland when they pay there poll tax/council tax or whatever its called are not paying into it and yet are gaining from a survice paid for by ounters in another county? I know how people from sunderland must have felt when they had no metro service! Wink

Depends who it benefits though, I can't imagine there's a massive flow of people from Cramlington wanting to go Weetslade and Dudley at night so arguably it's benefitting them more than Northumberland.

Seaton Valley Parish / Northumberland Council subsidise the 57A through Annitsford and Northumberland Council subsidise the 19 (Backworth), 74 (Stamfordham), 309 (Early Runs), 684 (West End) and 808 (Woolsingham) for similar reasons. Don't believe Nexus fund any of them. The 57A being Nexus from Earsdon to North Shields only.

Swings and roundabouts then.  I just though if a bus traveled from one area to another that both areas would fund the service.

It’s to allow the 115 scholars to operate as it runs off 71/72.

I don't believe that any 309s are subsidised these days.

Durham fund the 28/28B/29 whilst Nexus secure part of the 25 that runs in County Durham.

Isn't there some very early Sunday journeys still, not sure though mind after the partnership?

https://bustimes.org/registrations/PB0003954/304 - I know the registration still shows Northumberland under the subsidy box, assuming the No being for the 307.

Still no acceptance on these. Another delay likely, similar to Service 1/2 in East Cleveland?

Sad they’re cutting commercial services to allow them to take on contracts !

I suspect it’s more the only way the commercial stuff would survive. Without the contracts to back it up it would likely be gone altogether!

But with the start date pushed back 2 weeks to commence on the 21st September rather than the 4th.
Meaning the residents along the 12 route will have a gap of two weeks between Arriva finishing on the 12 and Stagecoach’s 6/6A starting.

Unless the local authority pay Stagecoach an increased rate to run for free?

I'm surprised that Stagecoach are taking any revenue risk in the first place!

They're training people how to drive a bus, not necessarily route learning them.

When I first learned to drive a car, I was taken to some very quiet roads so I could get used to operating the machine, before being introduced to more and more typical roads.  I can't imagine it'll be any different for buses; they're just looking for roads to give the learner some experience.
