Whilst potentially a good idea - what happens if there's a red bus on service 21 (ie the ones you see on such a regular basis!) which is full? If the bus is on a shared corridor, how do waiting passengers know that the bus which was full was actually a 21 which was full?
If ever those displays were resurrected, it would have to be done on a route-specific basis: a bus full display which showed the route number for that service too.
It's a fair point. I guess you could display 21 FULL or similar. It happens every Newcastle home game, Christmas time and further South, around Gala etc.
I guess you could say it's obvious the bus is full. It'd actually be handy if on the Football Specials that they only operate from Eldon non stop to Gateshead as it's what hey do in effect.
Or potentially, run one of the additional runs from High Level out to make sure lots of Gateshead passengers aren't losing out
