I remember a 212 to deaf hill and still don't know where is it. Great connections the services you mentioned but the buses used were so old and dirty. I don't know why arriva buy so many cast offs however lately more up to date vehicles are been used on north Tyneside and Sunderland connections from Durham/Teesside

It will have been a service that served the pit villages and colliery there. Once the pits went, so did the bus
Although they no longer have a direct link to Sunderland, they still have a half hourly service to Peterlee thanks to the 21/21a.
the only Arriva buses that serve Sunderland to Peterlee corridor now is Service 23 every 30 minutes to Hartlepool and Service 24 every 30 Minutes to Durham via Peterlee.
Service 212,213,215 was replaced in 2008 by Arriva renumbering sequence 21/21A/23/24/25/26/27. Service 212 was replaced by service 26 27 Deaf Hill to Peterlee. Deaf Hill is next to Wingate area.
Missed the 214, 229/230 and 240/241/242 off there (213/214 became 21/21a, 229/230 became the 23, 240/241/242 became the 24). The 25 was a brand new route, and the 26/27 were indeed the replacement for the 212.
