(04 Feb 2024, 12:30 am)N391OTY 35222 is the third one. Not good enough for Kettering town services, but fine for up here, apparently !

Hi. Just to clarify.

Kettering does not have town services as such, mainly inter-urban: Kettering to Northampton, Peterborough, Corby, Market Harborough, Wellingborough etc, but they still have some of the oldest buses in the area, such as ADL Enviro 400 19020 (MX56XAV) and ADL Enviro 200 36155 (KX60DPV).

Kind Regards

(04 Feb 2024, 10:32 am)F114TML Are you sure it's route learning and not the driving school?

must be route learning as the drivers that have been doing it are ones that have been there sometime and if it was driving school the dests would show "driver learning" rather than NIS

(04 Feb 2024, 7:15 am)Lottie332 there seems to be a few buses going round teesdale area on what appears to be route learning? so whether they've won a route for round that area or not idk

Wouldn’t be at all surprised if they’re rerouting the 36/37/38 that way

Not really sure the A66 has been that problematic since the services changed in order to warrant that kind of route change. Possibly something to 'divert' to if needed and building knowledge just in case.

Just by looking at the timetables you can see that the 36/37/38 cycle just doesn't have enough time to begin with, needs another bus to allow it to slacken off. Going via Teesdale, is slightly slower albeit more predictable. It will probably make it worse overall.

I'm not sure which route these are but wonder if it might be this:

After a procurement process in collaboration with the relevant authorities, TVCA has awarded
the services listed below, which are expected to begin operating in February 2024 and will run
for an initial 1-year trial period:
• A new service, or an existing service extension, covering Riverside Park (Middlesbrough).
• Wynyard service covering key employment sites (Stockton)

It's quite close to the Riverside Park area in Middlesbrough and is a 'key employment site' in Stockton aswell.

For such a key employment and study area, the lack of public transport around Teesdale has often puzzled me.

Other than the X10 and X12, there's either a walk to/from Stockton or a walk to/from Thornaby Station.

Could diverting the 36/37/38 improve access and therefore justify the diversion?

They'd almost certainly need deckers for the 36 at least. The amount of people that get off at Thornaby Station Bus Stop from the Hartlepool direction between 08:30 and 09:30 is already quite stark

(07 Feb 2024, 12:13 am)glen Stagecoach Stockton have get upgraded for  36,37,38 I have read on page 118

"The 36/37/38 seem to get upgraded every 5 year with new buses in 2009, 2014, 2019 so I would guess it’s very likely if they successful at least some of them will be used on them. That would certainly see off the enviro 300 and man 18.220s."

Was it this statement your basing that on?

Just to point out I am only assuming that the 36/37/38 will be getting new as it been the case every 5 year not that they definitely are.

I’d be very surprised but they’ll have gone in for a bid for electric buses - single decks I would imagine!
