HS2 will be limited to Euston-Birmingham. Apparently this frees up £36bn for "hundreds of new transport projects in the North and the Midlands, and across the country". It remains to be seen whether this is new money, or the usual trick of recycling old money.

(04 Oct 2023, 9:35 pm)deanmachine It would have been nice to get to Birmingham quite a bit quicker or personally Sheffield where my mother lives, and more capacity onto what is currently CrossCountry. Aye London isn't that much quicker but nicer high speed trains would have been nice too.
