She only vocal and in the press about campaigning getting the leamside line open when it’s an election year and then after elections been done then it goes all quiet again

I'm as suspicious as the next man about politicians motives, but the thought of it being an election promise or something she would say in an election year seems a bit far fetched.

I've no idea when the next one is likely to be and on checking, the next scheduled one is in 2022. As much as I want one tomorrow, the tories aren't going to let that happen unfortunately.

Have the tickets been announced yet? I assume it's going to operate similar to the AD122 where you have to buy a special ticket

Shadowing or following closely to the Q1/2 and 3? Potential to dilute those services in some areas.

Depending on the prices, I've a choice between the Q3 and this open topper to get to/from the Ouseburn now.

An integrated ticket valid on the Q services might boost its popularity.

Id hope it wasn't stand-alone, as the extra charges and lack of integrated ticketing are amongst the reasons I've never bothered with the AD122.

I get not letting day or week tickets using the AD122 as then people would just but them tickets instead for less, but they could let us monthly ticket users on. It's not as if they'd lose much revenue because it's not exactly a normal route

I don't think that would be a good idea as it would dilute current Q services. Plus with the commentary recorded specifically for the tour.....I don't think passengers would appreciate the 55min trip to get round town

I think it's finding the right balance. Priced right enough, so that existing pass holders use the service OR pricing it in such a way, that it becomes viable for families to use the service.

Families not living in the Tyne Valley are looking at driving all the way to Hexham (which defeats the point in getting the AD122 - might as well drive the rest of the way) or buying a family ticket of some sort, on top of the AD122 ticket.

Add any other costs on top and the service just isn't an option for many.

I suppose it depends where and when you're boarding or getting off.

If a Q3 isn't due, but this open topper is and you're trying to get to the Quayside from The Ouseburn, then the open topper could be an option.

Whereas if there's little integration, then the driver will be passing stops, with potential passengers waiting for his/her mate from the same depot (hopefully!) following on a few minutes behind.

I suppose it's like the AD122 example above. Price it too high or not allow any integration with existing products and you're not going to allow it to reach its potential. Especially a new product like this.

I do agree that it could dilute the existing services, but do think with the right marketing, the potential to dilute could be diminished.

Hopefully we see the following departing over the coming months.

Volvo B7TL East Lancs Vykings: 3967/68/70/71/73/74/75/76/77/83

Volvo B7TL Plaxton Presidents: 6010/17/33/6935/36/37/38/39/40/41

East Lancs Scania Omnidekkas: 3995/96 and 6122 to 6148

Just to note for others that the dual door 54reg Presidents 6920 to 6934 are Euro 5 which better than what is listed above which ranges from Euro 3 to Euro 4.

So with most of the OmniDekkas going, will 6118-21 go on the 327 or will they go to EYMS / GNW?

Think 327 would be a good call due to them having no standard interiors and could also help out with the PVR increase on the 1/1A

Unless a couple of B5LH's could be sourced from elsewhere to make up the PVR on the 1/1A.

Cant see omnidekkas going anywhere. Don't forget they have the EY livered presidents that will no doubt go first along with V reg presidents and vykings. Also this new order will be mainly withdrawing L94s

Or.......unbeknown to us, if Go Ahead have put a bid in for the Ashington operations (if Arriva sells in parts), they could lock 6118-21 away or just keep them on special work then when the time comes, refurbish and allocate them either on the X14 or X20. They'd be perfect due to their low mileage.

Probably not going to happen but would be a sensible option given their low mileage.

More than likely making up PVR of the 1 along with spares for 1 and 309/310

If operations are sold I'd imagine they would include the vehicles as well

What is the obsession of getting rid of 6118-21? They're still going to be of some value to GNE for a long time yet.

It travels around Central Newcastle & Ouseburn Valley as well as Newcastle Quayside and Gateshead Quays to be fair.

<meta charset="utf-8">Looks to be operating from Neville Street/Central Station, then probably past Centre for Life & up St James Boulevard so you'll see the Discovery Museum & the new part of the city, i.e. Newcastle Helix to the left and Hadrian's Tower to the right, onto Strawberry Place for St James' Park Stadium, past the Royal Victoria Infirmary & Newcastle University's nice buildings, down Claremont Road for the Great North Museum, you'll then see Newcastle Civic Centre, St Marys Place & the top of the Northumberland St/Haymarket, onto John Dobson Street for a glimpse of City Hall/City Pool, onto New Bridge Street past Northumbria University's School of Design, down Stepney Bank onto Lime Street for Ouseburn Valley/Seven Stories etc, onto City Road, past the Law Courts, along Quayside, around Sandhill & over the Swing Bridge past By The River Brew Co., along Hillgate Quay & South Shore Road for Baltic & Gateshead Millennium Bridge, up Hawks Road, into St Marys Square for Sage Gateshead, down Bridge Street (so presumably back over the Swing Bridge), Pilgrim Street, Market Street for a glimpse of Grey's Monument,  turn down Grey Street for Theatre Royal & one of the UK's finest streets, along to St Nicholas Street for Newcastle Castle & more fine buildings opposite, and back to Neville Street.

I don't think they've really missed anything off really.

And here's the link for those interested: https://www.nexus.org.uk/sites/default/files/documents/bus/toont-gne-290619.pdf

We don't want rid of them haha. But with them being dealer stock vehicles, they'd most likely be a best fit within the EYMS fleet. But I think GNE will find a good use for them.

Or putting them on the 327... I'd say 1/1A, Riverside spares or Chester is more likely myself.

Wouldn't waste your breath mate, doesn't seem to matter how many times to try to apply logic, you'll just continue to see the same stuff crop up time and time again, guess I better dream up a suggestion for a service to Newcastle Airport then [emoji39][emoji1787]

GO NORTH EAST LIMITED

Effective date: 21 Jul 2019

A pure guess.

Might this just be commuter buses from and to Consett via Lanchester to make up for direct links lost from Lanchester to Newcastle back in 2015?

The rest of the day might be Stanley to Newcastle as now as I don't see how an all day change would be viable.

The X30 and X31 would take passengers from the 16 and 78.

You could well be right! With 28x StreetDecks going to Consett (as well as 3x E400MMCs):

- 14x X45/X46/X47

- 3x X30

- 3x X31

- 5x X70/X71

- 3x X5/X15

- 3x spare StreetDecks

This could mean that the Consett extension will most likely be peak times only to reduce dead mileage maybe or evenings & Sundays for that matter?
