Can anyone please confirm the date for this as from what I can see it is on Sunday 9th August but the NEBPT website says it's on July 26th.

Anyone know the actual date this is on?

What's this one like?

Might head up if I can, do you know the best way to get there?

In my opinion, travelling by train is the easiest option.

Catch a train to Darlington and then Northern Rail to Shildon. It is 5 minutes away.

And it shouldn't cost anymore than £10

That would work although the one thing you have to remember is the Northern Rail service to Shildon only runs every 2 hours. Although you could also get the 1B/5A from Darlington Town Centre.

Tom do you live in Wallsend? If so I had a quick look on Traveline at just buses and it's suggesting a bus to Newcastle, 21 to Durham then either the 6/X21 to Bishop Auckland then from Bishop you can get the 1B/5A or train. Takes roughly 2 hours, 45 minutes which is quite awhile I admit.

If anyone needs help with how to get to this rally including where to get off the 1B/5A in Shildon feel free to ask me although I'd suggest asking closer to the time.

There is usually a few buses there but not large amounts there but there is probably enough. There was loads of stalls selling models and such so if anyone is into buying anything like that this should be good.

Cheers Jimmi.

Yeah I live just outside of Wallsend, so I could catch the Coaster. It is a very long time though, I might give that one a miss Sad

Shildon is on August the 9th.

The NNRG's National 2's are going to Washington on the same date.
We were invited to attend Shildon last year and found it very average. However there is much more to do and see at the NELSAM event. The GNE 50 service goes right past it.

According to Northern Rail's website a return from Darlington to Shildon for an under 16 would cost £1.85 I think.

Not me. Despite only living 10 mile away, it'd take me two hours and three buses to get there. Not worth the faff on in my opinion.

I have the feeling this is what most will be saying. Even I only have one bus an hour plus a train every 2 hours although I could always walk along the path that heads alongside the railway line between Aycliffe and Shildon Railway Stations.

It wouldn't be too bad for me if the 56 ran beyond Stobb Cross on a Sunday, because I could get that and then the 1, and do it in half the time.

Just 3 buses over 2 hours is too much for me, for what is such a short journey. I may attend in future years, assuming that Arriva stop neglecting us on a Sunday and bank holiday.

So you're probably not going to attend in future years, then...  Rolleyes

I best get arranging what I'm doing over Xmas now, given that I won't have a bus service for the best part of 3 days in a row...

I'm looking forward to climbing up the walls shouting at everyone's Boxing Day allocation photos on Flickr, it's an annual tradition, thanks Arriva!

Went to the rally, got boring pretty quickly and made worse by the fact that most of the enthusiasts I normally talk to weren't there.

On the plus side, I got a few models

Were Stanley Travel there? They were debating whether to go to this one or not with it not being as well known like the Metrocentre, Howlands and Whitley Bay etc.

Anyone else notice the trashed car (Nissan something or other) on the grass on the way to the car park?
