Well, we had the ball in and it was ruled out and NUFC scored from a penalty which never was so technically, it could have been 1-0

Full Time it finishes Gateshead 1-0 Newcastle United

Gateshead were fantastic throughout the whole game and had more possession that the Newcastle side which was quite simply very poor.

Riviere missed several chances, Sissoko and Armstrong missed open goals and Tiote skied it from about 3 yards.

As for Gateshead, James Marwood had a couple of shots well saved by Karl Darlow and Rene Howe caused panic between Williamson and Laccelles.

Gateshead visit the UTS Stadium tomorrow as they face Northern League opposition in the form of Dunston UTS. Admission too the game is £4 Adults and £2 Concessions. Malcolm Crosby is expected to play a full strength team

Watched the last 30 mins or so of Sunderland's pre-season friendly against Sacramento Republic in their opening game of the US tour ........ we got beat 1-0... no worries just want the fitness etc back up to 100%.

Yes, they do have a nice ground, and there was nearly 500 there so that will be good for their coffers.

Vergini loaned to Spanish club


Argentina international leaves on loan.
Sunderland AFC defender Santiago Vergini has joined Spanish La Liga side Getafe CF on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 26-year-old Argentine arrived on an initial loan deal in 2014, going on to make 51 appearances in 18 months on Wearside.

Russia's sports minister has said that FIFA president Sepp Blatter will attend the 2018 World Cup's preliminary draw in St Petersburg on July 25.

On Thursday, Vitaly Mutko told the newspaper Sport Express: "Sepp will be coming. He confirmed this to me yesterday.
