Tyne and Wear Metro

Due to a points failure in the Pelaw area; services are suspended between Pelaw and Brockley Whins. Go North East are accepting Metro passengers on their number 9 service.
(19 Sep 2015, 7:57 am)Michael Honestly, NEXUS are bloody hopeless, what's it going to be like if they run our buses!
(19 Sep 2015, 7:53 am)DanPicken I'm now having to help people by telling them the 9 goes nowhere near mine so we now need the Metro Replacement yet Northern raced past.

(19 Sep 2015, 8:07 am)Dan Just had a look on their Facebook page to see the exact wording:
"There are no trains running between Pelaw and Brockley Whins in both directions until further notice. This is due to a technical fault. Go North East are accepting Metro tickets in the affected area. Bus services 9 operate between Jarrow and East Boldon. We will update you as soon as we have more information."
Service 9 doesn't operate to East Boldon Metro Station..? The only services that do are Gateshead Central Taxis' Nexus-secured 558 and Stagecoach North East's 30 service. Forgive me if this sounds stupid, but surely it would make sense to accept Metro tickets on a service which actually goes to the affected area, and one which Nexus pays for already..?
Brockley Whins is one of those stations where it's not really appropriate to just say a bus operator is accepting tickets on its services which operate nearby - the 88/88A services are the only ones which stop close to Brockley Whins, and passengers would have to get on this service to Hebburn or Jarrow then get on a 27 to get to Pelaw or Heworth. The added journey time would cause so much inconvenience to customers which isn't particularly acceptable.

(19 Sep 2015, 8:11 am)Dan It was probably over the 30 minute mark in reality. They posted at 08:41am to advise that trains weren't running, but in my experience, it takes them 10-15 minutes to actually post that message.
A Metro Replacement service couldn't be organised in that short space of time, but it would help if Metro Control knew which 'normal' buses were appropriate to act as a replacement service.

(19 Sep 2015, 10:10 am)NK53 TKT I have to use it FOUR times a week WITH a connection, luckily in the morning I can travel by bus on the 554, but to get home I MUST use the metro, if my evening metros do not link up I can use the 553 from South Gosforth, but metro + Q3 is a nightmare!
