Because it won't be used on the 'Durham Diamond' services. Expected to transfer to Riverside for the 57 (we are all guessing).

Apologies! Looking back it seems that it was just one of those unneeded posts  Blush

The use of the exclamation mark there could come across as a bit harsh. It isnt meant to.

Probables cause its going else where, its not confirmed where but none of the upcoming changes have being allocated them... so its likely to go on a route which needs better buses.... 57 has been mentioned a few times to replace the duel door B10s.. which aren't DDA.

Well see where they're allocated when changes occur... unless Citaro or Dan can confirm... that's unlikely though...

Fleet list on here and the news shows that 542 has been reinstated at Riverside Depot as a float vehicle.

Ye, 5 mercs for the 5 Fab 57 B10's.

Allows the 16/16A to have 5337/5338 as spares... along with the other services at Stanley.

5293 > 5167
5294 > 5168
5295 > 5169
5296 > 5170
5297 > 5171

Key:

In a sentence, yes, there are enough citaros to replace the B10s

(08 Oct 2015, 2:50 pm)Greg in Weardale wrote Nice to see a proper map on the new X30/31 timetable; let's have them on all the timetables instead of the meaningless linear diagrams.

It's a shame neither GNE or Nexus do any network maps anymore. As a visitor from outside the area I never have a clue which roads any of the routes actually go on except for the general direction. What route all the new and old services which are changing take is a mystery to me.

Most PTEs do maps so it's poor that Nexus don't, in fact Nexus probably provide less publicity than most considering the operators provide their own timetables. You'd also expect GNE to do maps considering even First manage to do so in many areas.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2015
If GNE could get a hold of some Streetlites for a good price and sort out the 96 / 96A board, do you think they will streamline the Ryton - Newcastle corridoor and introduce a 10C running the same route as the 11 to Blaydon then the same route as the TEN group to Newcastle (11A would still exist though)? Something like this:

- Crawcrook to Newcastle every 7-8 minutes (15 evenings and Sundays).

- 10 / 10B = PVR of 10x B9TL Gemini 2s.

- 10A / 10C = PVR of 8x Streetlites.

They got rid of the 35/35A/35B/35C because it was to confusing... doubt they'll add a 10C to the TEN route... it'll be even more confusing than now.

Didn't Dan say ages ago that they were moving away from having 2 different set of buses for a branded route.

See, I still think having a letter prefix/suffix is confusing, if there's already a similar service of that number. People often don't see beyond the service number. Just look at the 20/20A/X20 for that.

My preference would be a route number per service, even if it is only slightly different.

I think letters only work on certain services.. 2/2A example, routes which have loads, such as the current TEN brand can be confusing.

Like before the old Laser brand is the biggest example for to many letters.

I think its reading where they use decimals for services like 7.1,7.2,7.3 not sure thats the routes but its an example... to me that's more confusing than to many letters haha.

Do they though? 2A/2C was originally for 'anti-clockwise' and 'clockwise'. The 2A would run Fatfield -> Harraton -> Lambton -> Galleries -> Biddick -> Fatfield, whereas the 2C was Fatfield -> Biddick -> Galleries -> Lambton -> Harraton -> Fatfield. It was sharp changed though, because it was causing confusion amongst passengers. I find you still get passengers jump on the 2/2A, and then get confused it doesn't go to Lambton or to Biddick.

If GNE wanted to avoid the confusion, they could swap the 10A / 10B route numbers to keep the destinations and areas served in common (10/10A to Prudhoe or 10B/10C to Greenside). Also, assuming GNE would buy a 9th single decker as a spare, the 10 / 10A would have 2x spares with 1x at Hexham and 1x at Riverside consisting of 6071 / 6084 due to the flexibility of them also working the TTX. At Riverside, 1x spare single decker would be available for the 10B / 10C.

Another handy thing using a split allocation would be that if any incidents were to kick off between the Metrocentre and Newcastle through Dunston like a few month back, the 10 / 10A could be regulated at the Metrocentre and the 10B / 10C could operate on the A1 via the Brewery and allow the 10 / 10A to run on time between the Metrocentre and Hexham / Prudhoe.

I think its much easier though but that's cause i used the routes for 2 years while at Usworth College, when they were the 2A/2C and now the 2/2A.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2015
But there again, a split allocation could pose a safety issue:

- Riverside driver operates the 10B / 10C early during his / her shift and operates via the Brewery.

- Later on, the same driver operates a 10 / 10A and ends up usng the sane route causing a decker to be de-roofed and passengers injured.
