Moving on...

As usual; Go North East provided four buses for the Saltwell Park Fireworks Display shuttle service, F1, this evening. As Metro Radio supported the event this year, Go North East provided one vehicle from Stanley (MetroRadio branded 6133). The other vehicles were "Yellow Bus" branded 3819 and 3824, and "TEN" branded 6083.

Volvo B7TL 3964 replaced 3824, to provide another low-floor bus, but wouldn't start up again after the engine was switched off (#3964strikesagain) "Red Kite" branded Volvo B9TL 6119 then replaced 3964 for the rest of the night, which sat spare for the rest of the night once it got started up again.

You can grab a bus from the interchange park and be there in 8 minutes, or go to the depot and back, at least 30 minutes?

Im pretty sure go north east staff wouldnt be happy at being called a numbskull for doing what they could as quick as they could, even if it's to help someone else's customers?

The metro replacement buses are usually deckers because metros are, well, big!

Not a great deal of consistency in the destinations!

Certainly wasn't - but at least the majority were showing the correct thing (Saltwell Park Fireworks)!

6083 hasn't been updated yet (it's one of those awkward ones which is at Hexham when you need it to be at Riverside and at Riverside when you need it to be at Hexham), hence why it was showing an old version of the F1 screen. The Olympian and 3964 had the F1 programmed - driver just didn't know where the F1 destination could be found (until I told him!) Smile

I'd be inclined to say that it's the same as the 'A' on the Saturday and Sunday timetables, being that it terminates at Percy Main, and that there's been a mistake.

Yes, there's been a typo. The 'A' should be where the '2302' is, and obviously if this time was included, it should have been '0002' or '2402'.

Will pass the message on - thanks.

Tongue, Davey would be happy.

Wouldn't surprise me though if the B9's are replaced soon, not this years financial year maybe 2016-2017...when 6001-6007 are 5 years old... means they can replace them and 6049-6055 to, which will allow GNE to give them an early repaint...

or

They could wait until all of them are 5 years and over...so that would be 2017/2018 financial year.

I think now that the QCS has been sidelined, I would imagine they would invest to replace some of the older branded vehicles...maybe the end of the purple solars Wink I agree if the X1 was upgraded, it wouldn't be until at least 2016-2017 financial year

This is becoming a bit repetitive, but it hasn't been sidelined. The QCS board have simply given their opinion. Not a verdict. It'll be taken to one of the next NECA meetings, and a recommendation will be made to councillors from there.

We haven't but i was just saying if the Red Arrows got new buses it wouldn't be until at least the 2016/2017 financial year over further down the line....... as its constantly said about the Red Arrows getting new buses on the forum nearly every few weeks!

Re: 2016-17 orders. We haven't even found out what this year's order contains yet...

Well pardon me for breathimg. My point is that it hasn't exactly had a glowing endorsement and the nexus website has said the NECA will decide on whether ask for a revised proposal based on the concerns raised.

I also wasn't guessing at next year's orders. I was merely speculating that should the X1 receive further investment, it would be unlikely before the 2016-2017 financial year
Greg in Weardale   06 Nov 2015, 1:17 pm
The Quality Contract proposal by Nexus is almost certainly dead as it would be grossly irresponsible for NECA to proceed after the damning verdict by the examining Board that it was not good value for money. However, it is too early for the operators to rejoice because we do not know what will come with the government's devolution proposals; if the local authorities accept these it is almost certain that they will include some control over bus services.

Why didn't you say that then? You've read the same as what I've read, so you'll understand that it'll have to go to a NECA committee/board, before there's any potential of the plans being sidelined.

My point was merely to raise awareness, in the mist of spun press headlines.

(06 Nov 2015, 12:56 pm)Michael wrote We haven't but i was just saying if the Red Arrows got new buses it wouldn't be until at least the 2016/2017 financial year over further down the line....... as its constantly said about the Red Arrows getting new buses on the forum nearly every few weeks!

Without trying to turn this into the order predictions thread, I'd suggest it's rather difficult to predict for the following financial year's order, when you don't know what's on this year's. Even once this year's order is known, there'll then be a series of cascades, as there is every year. The allocations could be completely different in 6 months time.

Who's to say there aren't plans for the Red Arrows in this year's order? I know it's becoming a broken record, but the B9TLs may actually be required elsewhere.
