RE: 2015/16 Football Season
(06 May 2016, 8:10 pm)Davie wrote I reckon Middlesbrough will get promoted.

As for the relegation battle, I've predicted Chelsea to beat Sunderland 2-1, us to beat Aston Villa 3-1 Manchester United to beat Norwich 2-0. More hope than expectation, but I do think it's possible.

Hopefully Boro do, be good for both Boro and Brighton to come up though. - I have a awful feeling Villa will beat us though. We have 1 point away in 2016 and Villas performance last week at Watford was very good, they are due a win surely.

Boro or Brighton to get promoted do we think?

And anyone have any predictions for the big relegation battles tomorrow? I'm going for Sunderland to draw 1-1, us to beat Villa 2-0 and Man U to beat Norwich.

Have you seen what is at stake in that game...

With the new tv deal about to kick in...It has been estimated to be worth around £170m

That is nearly double the £90.9m Leicester will recieve in Prize Money for winning the Premier League this season...

It is also astronomical compared to Newcastle and Sunderland who will recieve £72.3m and £69.5m respectively...

Unfortunately one of our teams will be going down, and when they do, I hope they don't get bogged down like Boro did for 7 years, and it could be a disaster, for as far as I am aware Sunderland have been spunking money for the last few years now and I feel a pronged period out of the Premier League could see them become the 'new Leeds' or Portsmouth, not sure what NUFC finances are like.

Anyway back to today...

I hope Brighton come up, I hate Middlesbrough

Yeah the money at stake is unbelievable. What Chris Houghton has done with Brighton is fantastic, weren't they 21st last season when he took over or something?

You do of course mean the Premiership as they are already in the Championship

Brighton have of course been represented in the top flight before, most of us who are older actually remember there was a sport called football before 1992

Brighton played in the 1st Division in the mid-late 80's

Won't help for anyone tbh.

I have a feeling it'll be a odd day...

Sunderland draw
Villa win
Norwich draw

Villa are due a win, they were decent last week.

Draw isn't good enough today for Sunderland haha

Dont know if anyone picked up on this earlier on, was reported on Football Focus...Cameroonian International Patrick Ekeng, 26 collapsed during a gNe and later died

Patrick Ekeng: Dinamo Bucharest and Cameroon midfielder dies after collapse

BBC Sport wroteDinamo Bucharest and Cameroon midfielder Patrick Ekeng has died aged 26 of a suspected heart attack after collapsing on the pitch.

Ekeng fell to the floor in the 70th minute of a televised Romanian league match between Dinamo and Viitorul.

He was pronounced dead in hospital two hours later.

The Romanian Football Federation announced on Saturday the Romanian Cup final between Dinamo and Cluj would be put back a week to 17 May.

It said all games scheduled for this weekend would be postponed.

The Cameroonian FA confirmed Ekeng's death on Twitter on Friday, while his former club Cordoba tweeted: "We have no words to express our sadness at the loss."

Ekeng had also previously played for Le Mans and Lausanne.

In 2003, Cameroon international midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe died after collapsing during a Confederations Cup match against Colombia in France.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino said: "At moments like this, words seem insufficient. Messages I've read online from teammates, his club in Romania, and former teams, show just how highly Patrick was regarded."

Cant think of anything to say to that, it is devastating, 26 year old athletes should not be dropping down dead with heart attacks

RIP

So a win for Sunderland on Wednesday will send Newcastle down...

Bet that is some bitter pill to swallow...

I have said all season it looked like one will go down at the expense of the other

From a rivalry stand point, that is the perfect ending for Sunderland, same if Sunderland go down instead of Newcastle...

From a neutral standpoint, it is a shame, as I genuinely believe the Tyne-Wear rivalry is the best in Britain.

Matches against Middlesbrough does not tickle my fancy, I dont care what some may think, but 'Boro is not a local derby.

Anyway there is still the possibility of then both going down yet

I disagree. The last lot have just been two poor teams, playing out a poor game of football.

I'd much rather have a derby like the Manchester, Liverpool, North London or Glasgow ones.

I'm disagreeing with you calling it the best derby, when there's at least another 15x that I can think of that are better.
