Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2016
(15 May 2016, 7:19 pm)Dan wrote Every single "SimpliCity" branded Optare Versa at Deptford has gained the 'every 15 minutes' vinyls as a replacement for the current 'every 10 minutes'.

This would suggest that the four released from the 2/2A will be allocated to another route at Deptford which operates at a 15-minute frequency.

Service 33?

What other routes are every 15 minutes though? I was thinking the 39 with the Lambton Worm versas but you already said it would be allocated Solars. Can't think of any other route that's every 15 minutes and requires 4 buses.

The 33 will be allocated MPD's.

Only other service every 15 minutes is the 700 but i doubt they would lose the Hybrids and the "Sunderland Connect" brand especially when its funded by a few companies.

As Tom, said the PVR for the 39 is 7 so 3 more would needed and i don't see them coming off the 34/34A.

I think everything is fine as it is - what do you reckon could be changed? The 17 maybe could be changed as the reliability is a bit crap, but the 1, 309/310 etc. all seem to be running fine as they are.

I'm sure Michael will give us the lowdown in the 'Upcoming Service Changes' thread if he sees any VOSA registrations!  Smile

Not sure on the brand name yet or if they'll be the Blue or Red ones which will be allocated to the 39.

Service 61 runs every 15 minutes...though obviously they'd be a Versa short!

They could pinch 8328 from Riverside or just do a South Tyne and have an L94.

Of course, this would free up the 5 Citaro's which could be used on the X84/5, 67/9, 9, 19 or 28.
They could utilise the extra citaro from the 35/36 send all 6 to Stanley for the X30/31 and use the 7 Omnicities on the 11/96 (but that might be taking it a bit far)

Think it should be the red ones (5211 to 5217) branded "Black Cats" for the 39, with the livery as shown on the Cadets before that plan was scrapped.

Furthermore I think the 17/17A will gain various corporate livery spare Wright Solars, I would go with 4974 to 4976 & 4989 to 4992.

As for the Blue Solars, no idea where they could go, 11/96 maybe.

Ah yes I forgot about the Black Cats brand!

I think the 17 will be branded though. What could you brand the 11/96? Totally different routes

A quick question, if I wanted to observe what was running on the 794 on an afternoon, what route does it take, does it pass through Gateshead Town Centre?

Question I've been meaning to ask for a while.... Why was 3941 deemed Not suitable for service 434/448? I know it was sent from Riverside to Percy Main to upgrade the service and improve reliability, but what was the problem?
I know the 434 doesn't seem to carry many passengers but I think it's the scholars service where the large amount of passengers are, otherwise I would think a minibus would be more than suitable.

I think it's because it is a full height Volvo B7 and some of the branches of the tree are too thick and could lead to a fatal accident and if I am not mistaken the is a bridge that is just able to fit east lance lolyn under. but lately the 434 has been operated by the X-WRG variety or 5166 or wright solars, also I do agree with thetravelman that 434 should be operated by minibus as the passenger numbers are quite low
