No it doesn't, The E stands for Economic, Which was ( Stood to be corrected ) a subsidiary of Busways running them 3 routes, They ran with a bronze style color scheme.

Oh sorry for that I just thought becasue the E1 used to run nonstop between South Shields and Sunderland along the coast road
RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
The E1 was never an express. It originated as service 505 pre deregulation 1986. E3 service was in response to the X2 of Tyne &I wear Onnibus . The X2 ran from Thorney Close to South Shields .
Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
Originally the E1 and E2 were originally the 505/506 and also 538/539, the E3 was put on between Sunderland and South Shields in front of Tyne and Wear omnibus company service X2 which ran from Thorney Close-Sunderland-south shields-whiteleas. With busways sticking a extra bus on service 16 in front of the X2 between South Shields and whiteleas.

When service E3 was originally put on all sort of buses were put on between minibuses and double deckers then leyland lynxes were put on the route.
E6 was put on twice in its lifetime to compete against Catch-A-Bus service 6.

But service 8 is still going to serve South Hylton every 30 minutes under the new proposal. Cant see it needing another service down there really with having the metro. Unless they split the 20s and have every other one serving its current Pennywell loop and the other doing the loop in reverse, like Newcastle's X87/X88

I know, it's just a suggestion if service 8 was withdrawn

Proposed Changes in Sunderland

https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and...ed-changes

------------

NEW Service X24 - Sunderland to Newcastle

As part of these proposed changes, we're thinking about introducing an inter-urban express route between Sunderland and Newcastle!
Buses would operate from Sunderland City Centre along Chester Road and then direct to Newcastle City Centre.

Service X24 would operate up to every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes. The route in Sunderland City Centre would operate clockwise from Chester Road via St.Michael's Way, St.Mary's Way, John Street, Holmeside, Green Terrace and Chester Road. The timetable details are currently undergoing refinement and will be subject to the feedback we receive from you.
A reminder....

Please get in touch by Thursday 24th November 2016.

Can't see much happening between now and Christmas.
It will take a period of time to analyse the results, make changes (if there are any) following feedback, obtain any sign-off/approval that is needed and then meet VOSA registration deadlines.
I predict we will see stuff on their website in to the New Year. That's not to say stuff might be leaked prior to then like.

Ye, well it was rumoured the changes will take place at end of January but that seens unlikely now because of the passenger questionnaire.

Due to GNE operating a Sunday service.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
Surprised GNE are running a Sunday service on the 2nd January, it's a normal working day for some.

Saturday service between 27th-30th December is also stupid, hope i'm not at work for 7:30am because i won't be able to get there!

It's been said for years now that Saturday service doesnt meet passenger needs. Not much changes and there has been plenty feedback.

It has but it's all about demand. I don't want to repeat about feedback as you have said about it above but i do wonder how many people won't be able to get to work early because of a Saturday service.

The latest i can get to work on a Saturday service is just after 7:30am (as i have to walk from the Queen Alexandrea bridge or Southwick)...... i have told my manager so i hope she takes notice.

Edit: Missed a word out!

No lol, it means the 33 won't operate so the Docks would have no service until 1800ish.

And from the outside looking in, there must be a demand.
Shops, callcentres and factories are open and I imagine some offices too. Enough people will be at work to justify opening your nursery.
Granted people will be sticking in leave requests and the kids are off school, but there still will be some demand for buses  - at similar levels to the factory fortnight at the very least.

I hadn't checked the timetables to be honest. Saw the post and got all excited for a moment!

Ye, first time in a while, i'll of worked throughout the 27th-30th December (if i'm in, might not be in yet), we won't be as busy as normal but still there's demand for us to open, you'll be surprised at how many nurseries don't open during Christmas.

Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
Since January 1st falls on a Sunday, then the following day is classed as a Sunday service. It's always been a Saturday service the week between Christmas and New year unless one of those days is a Sunday.

Without getting in to the nitty gritty, but I'd imagine management spoke to parents to see what demand would be like? I can't imagine it's a decision taken lightly, but there must have been some sort of analysis and planning to identify the demand and associated staffing arrangements.

Operators have stated previously that there isn't enough demand. Yet services haven't been introduced to check demand (or analyse trends) and as far as I'm aware haven't spoken to passengers to gauge a potential demand.
