Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2

RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2

(30 Mar 2017, 3:08 pm)Jamie M wrote It's like the 45N/46A/97B etc. They are journeys which only alter slightly for maybe a trip and putting up a display for a journey that's 95% similar is confusing. The displays scroll the altered destination, but I guess it's too minor to actually warrant a route number variation.

I think it has been done more from a ticketing perspective than anything else due to the stops served being slightly different.

Probably. I'm not sure why the via points are editted without the route number being touched though. Always found it odd.

The service is still registered as '6', so '6' must be shown on the destination display.

What drivers input into their ticket machines and destination controllers in order to show the correct via points and issue tickets with a different faretable does not have to marry up with the number the service is registered as, as only members of staff employed by Go North East see this internally.

So I would assume that this '6A' is something different - as it's becoming a registered service...

I thought it might be to replace the V7/V8 through tanfield but with the M6/M7 & M8 being registered who knows.

Have the V7/V8 been formally cancelled in vosa yet? I didn't see an actual record for them. There's too much information to draw any conclusion right now in my eyes haha.

Only a matter of time before they appear imo, not going to run the m6-m8 and the V7/V8, then run the 6 & 6A , not that many passengers to go around!!!!!!!

They'll have the red engineer vans on the road before we know it with 706 being introduced!
Imagine one of them turning up with the number 6 spray painted onto the top panel...

Not much different to the DCC 216, in that case! I'm sure they've exceeded the 20 day grace period on some of their vehicles on that service by now.

Should really be the MC1, MC2 and MC4, going back almost 9 years Smile . Of course there was nothing 'MC' about the MC4 the first time but, assuming that the 704 will now be merged with a current V7/V8 from Metrocentre, there will be.

Looks like most of the Venture network is changing, far too early to say what they are, those VOSA posts on the page give nothing away, the detailed ones are normally sent out in an email.

With a new or adapted livery for the 'M' series?

I think theyll try to take as much as the time off the 6 as they can for the M6. I think we'll see sunniside estate and lintz be donated to the M6. Currently nothing on sunniside front street serves metrocentre, so I feel the 6/6a will follow the X30 down sunniside to whickham, rejoin with the M6 on broom lane and continue as normal.

I think the 6a will operate hobson, whereas the 6 operates pickering nook, syke road straight to burnopfield front street.

Branding for the new M6 service seems pointless, especially given I am going to hazard a guess at it being minibus work.

It could explain why 710-714 left Saltmeadows without a livery...

Whilst I had no official lines that indicated there were going to be changes to the Stanley network; the fleet revisions and allocation of unbranded vehicles to the depot definitely hinted at it.

The 'V' numbering system is built around the Venture network on Derwentside.
For a specific number of unbranded vehicles allocated to a soon to be 'M' numbering system, that doesn't link directly to the core of the 'V' network, definitely (to me anyway), hints of a branding amendment of some sort.

Aren't they busy enough at the livery design committee, creating a new brand for those red solars? [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]

I'm still waiting for the big bang, when the livery design committees' jaws hit the table - after being told about a depot called Deptford Wink

Judging by the registrations, I think the M6 will be the 704 and a V7/V8 journey from Metrocentre merged into one operating on late evenings as the 704 does now.

V7 & V8 are being replaced by M7 & M8, M6 is replacing the 704 and going a little further.

A little further? The registration says Metrocentre to South Stanley (where the 704 currently runs via), unless it is going down to Hollyhill Gardens etc instead of just Avon Road.

I think one will turn left at the end of avon towards south moor.

It's doable, but that left turn is quite tight (the SRs would be much more suited to it than the ex-GCB vehicles).

I think the best way to do it is to make it go along Avon Road in the opposite direction, omitting Tyne Road, down Durham Road, into Hollyhill Gardens and across to South Moor that way if that was to be the case.

Any bus could turn left out of Avon road, just gotta make sure to leave enough space. What would happen if there was a 16 heading to Stanley and there was an accident to the right so the bus had to turn left?. Is the timetable of the 704 going to be copied or changed?
