Another good point - hadn't noticed the rear branding tells you where the bus goes via, but not where it goes to and from...bizarre to omit this if attempting to encourage motorists to switch from the car to (standing on!) the bus...

Thanks to GNE for putting a solo on 60 at peak time making it full to pick up any passengers en route and has a spare streetlite on staff shuttle

The back of the bus is the selling point to motorists heading in the same direction, if you're sat behind a bus, that's all you are going to see. 

I can see it has WiFi, USB and Tables, it says it twice. It runs direct via the A19, it's great value and its "contactless" (please use "contactless payments" or "contactless accepted" next time?!). But where does the bus go? Yes there's a full read blind, but if you're sat behind it and it says "Dalton Park then Middlesbrough", then where do you try and get on...? 

It's all well and good plastering it on the side, but if a car is overtaking, it's just going to be a blur.

I dont think thats a valid argument - all displays have general info. 99% of destination places would require somebody new to the area to go and do some personal research. I don't think it's any less specific than before. Better to see just bare panel with only the start/end place names present. I think this is just trying to find issues, rather than there actually being anything out of place.

I however do not think it's justifiable to put versas and streetlites as spares on this service when there are TEN and TTX buses at the depot of nicer specification/capacity.

After already expressing my view on the rear of the B5TLs, the old Tyne Tees Xpress is certainly better. That aside, however, there is a lot more to a brand than just where it goes, especially if you are competing with the train. The people who are likely use the services will, most likely, live somewhere along the route anyway meaning that they will know where the bus serves. Perhaps not as good as having the route on the rear, but it certainly isn't information that cannot be sourced through independent research.

I'm of the opinion that after putting so much effort into making the inside of the vehicle as premium as possible, in order to compete with other modes of transport as you say, they should have kept the premium livery. Both the original TTX livery and the 2012-17 version were, in my opinion, two of the most premium liveries the North East has seen and I think it would have been far better to build on that.

Okay, so let's say 'Pete' is driving to work in Middlesbrough from Newcastle, and is following a B5 down the A19. He has no idea where that bus has come from, and unless he's looking up at the rear destination, he may not know where it's going. 

Now, had he been making that journey when the B9s were allocated to the route, he'd see at eye level that the bus goes from Newcastle to Middlesbrough, is every 30 minutes, and can also easily see that it has WiFi, sockets etc. 

My point is that, he'd probably be more likely to look at the possibility of using the bus if he knew it's destinations, than just the service numbers.

Brands with just numbers are rather meaningless, like "the 49" and it was a great improvement  changing the boring "Ten" to "Tyne Valley Ten". The "Tyne Tees Express" was relevant and well known.

I agree.
Maybe they're embarrassed to call it an Express now it's been slowed down so much.

I don't know how you have been able to imply that, given that I was not doing a direct comparison to the TTX brand at that point, nor had I mentioned it.

Would've been the vehicle they had taken the machine from as 6012 was supposed to be withdrawn following Metro Replacements, but went to Percy Main to assist additional PVR due to roadworks in June, no further updates on the NEB Fleetlist to say whether it has been withdrawn or not.

6310 taken off in Heworth about an hour ago and was replaced by 3963 which ended up leaving 15 minutes late and still displaying 'Not in Service'

Have 3885 and 3887 been withdrawn? They have both broken down within the last week (3885 seemed to have a gearbox issue) and I have only seen 3886/9 recently.
