I've just noticed they didn't update the Angel Night Bus logo on the timetable, it still says it's an electric hybrid.
I also wonder if now the timetable has the new livery, the tables on board will too. It still annoys me every time I sit at the race track table and don't see a Streetdeck on the Angel

Nope, the new one definitely has the old Angel logo still on the Night bus, in fact, it looks like they just copy and pasted that whole section

(16 May 2019, 4:31 pm)Dan If I was deaf or blind, I'd hope that an audio/visual aid wouldn't be incorrect, which of course is the alternative if everything cannot be set up in time. Arriva North East tend to go for that option I have found, which I personally don't think is the best option for passengers who are visually impaired.

It is of course just a temporary solution... With over 50 buses transferring between depots this weekend, via points making a return to the destination displays, as well as timetables making a comeback (and lots of other things going on too), I'm sure you'll appreciate something has to give. Dodgy

That’s more buses moving in a single weekend than I can recall moving at the same time since a depot closed

With corporate double deckers on the X5 today, is it right to assume the Citaros are getting repainted?

I'd imagine as it will no longer be regarded as an Express service. New timetables also show citaro in corporate livery

They must have been in a rush when making these new timetables, the 11, 55 and 57 have a misspelling (well a missing space) at the bottom of the second page

It also really annoys how the second page on the 50/50A timetable is missing the 'Get in touch' bar at the bottom

Also, is there any reason why the X66 hasn't received the updated timetable design? I guess they're working on a different design, similar to what they did for the Xline timetable and it wasn't finished in time

“Hundreds call for ‘essential’ Sunderland bus route to be saved as Go North East service set to be scrapped at weekend”

Some people aren’t happy about the 36 service being cancelled, it reports there are almost 600 signatures at time of the articles release.

How many of those 600 people, use the 36 Monday to Saturday, or actually use the service at all?
I bet half of those signatures are from people who don't even use it...

I use the 36 but it all depends on what time i start and finish work, so some days i use it and some days i don't so i won't be signing it....

If a route isn't making a profit, it won't survive....

It is the same as now, on an evening the 35A runs once an hour to low moorsley and once an hour to houghton then it changes to an X5 to south hetton, this keeps the 35A every 30 mins on an evening to houghton but low moorsley and south hetton also have a bus once an hour

Unless they're using some sort of marketing speak, it's making a profit.

passenger numbers on the route are too low for it to be kept in its ‘current form’.

They're still sending services on each and every section of the route. In its entirety.
Apart from one - the section from Fencehouses Front Street - Houghton via Dairy Lane. I'd suggest the only reason they're doing that, is because they're culling the 238 between Houghton and Barnwell and need something to plug a small section on Burnside Estate.

If they wanted to spin the news in a positive light, they could have easily come up with something better than they have done.

Not sure you've worked that one out correctly, Andreos.

The old secured section of the 238 which was taken on commercially on a trial basis, between Hall Lane and Barnwell, has been replaced by the resurrected 79 service which has been awarded to JH Coaches under tender. The re-routing of the 71 via Burnside Estate has nothing to do with the 238?

The 71 being routed via Burnside Estate makes up for the loss of the 36 in this area - so this still maintains four buses per hour (with the 35) between here and Houghton-le-Spring.

Those travelling between Fencehouses Front Street and Dairy Lane are few and far between I suspect, but anyone doing this journey can still do it by riding through Houghton-le-Spring on service 4 (which is more frequent than service 36 anyway). If people don't want to ride through, then they could always walk to Chilton Moor (hardly a massive distance) to catch services 35 or X20 which will serve both stops on Dairy Lane like the 20A and 36 do at the moment.

Ah the old 'trial' basis line. They haven't used that one for a while. How long was this 'trial'? It seems its been a couple of years. That's a canny trial!

I appreciate the numbers travelling between the sections now not served by the 71 following the axing of the 36, may be small. However it certainly inconveniences those boarding in those areas and travelling beyond. They now need to change buses and potentially incur increased costs through higher fares.

I think we all said the H1 would fail. Surprised its lasted that long.
Its now left to the taxpayer to pick up the gap left by commercial decisions that haven't worked.

I can't remember the exact date the 238 was introduced on a commercial basis, but I'm pretty sure it was well before January last year.
May 2016 or 2017 perhaps? Can vaguely remember using one of the last (if not the last) 79/79a runs.
