Fleet Changes
(30 Sep 2021, 5:25 am)Dan I was clear last time, it isn’t going to happen. So why was the initial plan (pre-covid) to actually operate the service using StreetDecks with a mix of old and new ones?
StreetDecks aren’t suited to a route like the X21, that has been proven. Pointless running the risk with newer StreetDecks where the exact same could happen again.

(30 Sep 2021, 9:44 am)S813 FVK Because the fleet strategy was different back then? But working the BSOG rate out (if still 14p per KM)
The coaches probably wouldn't have migrated quite so soon, if at all, feeing the B5TLs had it not been for covid adjustments.

(30 Sep 2021, 4:06 pm)L469 YVK But working the BSOG rate out (if still 14p per KM)
- 32km (20mi) = 4.48 * 36 (number of full WA trips in either direction) = £161.28 per day
- £161.28 * 5 (Mon-Fri) = £806.40
- £806.40 * 52 (give or take for BHols etc) = £41.9k
And that's the headline figure alone. Not forgetting Saturdays (full route) and also the Sunday trips (BA only)

(30 Sep 2021, 7:14 pm)Keeiajs Do you think we should be starting to see the introduction of USB-C's in the back of seats and no just USB-A, as they don't put plugs on buses anymore, and brand such as Apple are bringing in USB-C with samsung.

(30 Sep 2021, 8:24 pm)streetdeckfan I'm 50/50 on that.I mean they could do 50/50, both have 1 USBC & 1 USBA.
I use the same charger for my laptop and phone, and my laptop charger is a USB-C to C cable, which means I need to carry around both my laptop charger and a spare USB-A to USB-C since the likelihood is that the 240v sockets that are available won't work and I'll have to make use of the USB in the seat backs.
But, I'm also mindful that most people probably still are using a USB-A cable, despite the fact that phones now ship with USB-C to C, or USB-C to Lightning cables simply because they're the cheaper option.
I know my official phone charger stays in the house and just carry around a disposable Poundland cable because I know I'm going to misplace it! And, judging by what I've seen on the bus, others are the same

(01 Oct 2021, 3:45 pm)Keeiajs Do the plug sockets on the 56 actually, work, tried it on 3 different 56 DD, and non worked. You might find one or two out of the whole allocation, maybe, just maybe one day they will get replaced, surely it doesent cost that much to change the faceplate of the power point with working sockets and usb's

They have just had a refurbishment and they didn't think about upgrading the chargers...when non including the USB work, which is a bit of joke. Tbf.

Because honestly Its going to benefit GNE in the long run.

(01 Oct 2021, 6:16 pm)mb134 Struggle to see how it's of any benefit at all to GNE. Ultimately most folk still have A-C cables rather than C-C, hell iPhone users don't even have USB C at all so arguably you'd be annoying more customers than you'd be pleasing.

(01 Oct 2021, 7:39 pm)deanmachine My 2 year old iPhone 11 came with a USB-C to lightning charger. Most Apple products use USB-C now, it's just the iPhones and the lesser iPads that don't use them.
