Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes

Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes

RE: Stagecoach bus changes
(05 Oct 2014, 12:10 pm)Kuyoyo wrote I know some, but there's only a few that can truely be revealed:

As you might be able to tell from the starting dates, service 58 and 61 will be reintroduced on evenings and Sundays on an hourly bases. As such, evening and Sunday 59s will no longer operate round Hardwick and instead will terminate at North Tees Hospital. An interworking pattern of 59/61/58 is planned - not as good as the old 'Magic Roundabout' evening pattern of years gone by but still. Although the 13 is also listed as the change starting on the Sunday (30th November), not sure yet whether that is also operating evenings/Sundays.

Thats good that they're reintroducing a evening service, not from the area but do u think they will be used well?

No idea - the 61 might do well considering the main idea behind the evening/Sunday service (along with a few other changes) is to take on Leven Valley. Likely to improve the number of Megarider sales along the 61 route.

(03 Oct 2014, 5:56 pm)Michael wrote Anyone have any idea on the Stockton/Boro changes in December?

By the sounds of it.

New Service 10 - will operate half hourly between Middlesbrough and Coulby Lingfield Park via Marton Road and The Hospital replacing current 37 and providing a 15 minute frequency will 11 from Coulby

New service 39 will replace 36,37 and 38 from Park End to Middlesbrough my guess would be every half an hour

36/37/38 will no longer run to park end instead terminating in the bus station

34 will now operate every 20 minutes

All services will gain evening and Sunday services
RE: Stagecoach bus changes
The new 39 to Park End will be on a 10 minute frequency. Not all services will gain evening/Sunday services

On behalf of LVC Ltd can I say that I can see a great deal of common sense behind the December Stagecoach changes. I do not subscribe to the 'take on Leven Valley' approach. The appearance of more Leven services in the Stockton area was largely driven by attempting to keep options open for areas that could have been left 'busless'.

Our approach has largely been successful and though some changes will be inevitable Leven's approach has never been to undermine or 'cherry pick' the excellent efforts of Arriva and Stagecoach. We see ourselves as Public Transport SERVANTS rather than utterly commercial and try, not always successfully, to enhance rather than to conflict in provision of services in Cleveland.

Obviously additional services may detract from numbers using  Leven's routes and affect viability. That is part of life in public transport. I have dealt with that reasonably well over almost thirty years and though I am taking less and less daily control of matters plans are afoot on both vehicle and service fronts to continue, hopefully, enhancing public transport alongside (and occasionally underfoot) the two excellent major operators.

It is vital in this divisive and combative world to expect the best and try to keep a sense of good humour on the rare occasions that it does not happen.

RE: Stagecoach bus changes
I think I would largely agree with Paul Thompson in that from the (limited) public information available many of the changes seem sensible, and perhaps reverse some poor previously taken decisions. Indeed I don't see they are necessarily a side swipe at Leven Valley. New route 10 (if indeed it is a 30 min frequency Marton Road to Middlesbrough) will in my opinion significantly affect Arriva - particularly as MegaRider prices are considerably cheaper than the equivalent Arriva offering.

It is good to see Stagecoach finally getting their finger out and at least attempt improvements to a network that has been stagnant for many years. I do hope it is successful, and look forward to seeing the full detail when it is more publicly available. I do hope though that a good balance can be sustained and that Leven Valley does continue. I feel interesting times in one way or another are ahead!

Resurfacing works on Wavendon Crescent, affecting Services 5, 5A

On Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 October 2014, Sunderland City Council will need to close Wavendon Crescent for resurfacing works.

Last Updated: 13 October 2014 4:26 PM

These closures are likely to be in place between 0800 and 1800 on both days, and will require the closure of the carriageway between its junctions with Melbourne Place and Woodville Crescent.

During the closure periods, Services 5, 5A from Doxford Park towards City Centre and Docks will be required to divert via Chester Road and Woodville Crescent.

As a result, buses will be unable to serve Wavendon Crescent, Woodland Drive or Killingworth Drive.

Westbound buses should be unaffected by these works.

Stagecoach apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause, which are due to circumstances beyond our control.

Services Affected: 5, 5A

Sounds very good, the 34 should benefit to every 20 minutes, it gives extra buses from Billingham to Middlesbrough as well as another bus an hour from Billingham stops to its town. The changes it should stop the 36/37/38 being late causing two buses to always come, reducing the queues and hopefully stopping pusher iners. Not too sure about the service 10, it may do well considering its connecting a big part of Middlesbrough to the hospital and if its quicker than the 12 thats always a bonus - hate going round hemo'. I know its super early but I wonder if the 10/11/12/13/14 will be next routes to get new buses? (I doubt I'll be lucky enough for it to be the 52)

The plan seems to be to cascade the current E300s to 10/11/12

Christmas Camel Procession in South Shields Town Centre on Friday 5 December 2014

We have been advised a Christmas Camel Procession will be held in South Shields Town Centre on Friday 5 December 2014.

Last Updated: 29 October 2014 6:07 PM

To ensure health and safety is maintained, a number of roads in the town centre will be subject to a ‘rolling road closure’ between approximately 1700 - 1900.

The parade will commence at the east end of King Street, and proceed via King Street, anticlockwise around the Market Place to St.Hildas Church.

During affected times, buses in all directions will either wait behind the parade, or will be diverted away from the affected roads. Because of the impact on traffic flow, all bus services may be subject to delays, and may be unable to temporarily observe their normal stops along Chapter Row and Church Way.

Customers are therefore recommended to use the Keppel Street bus stops near South Shields Metro Station.

Although our local authority colleagues will endeavour to ensure that the impact on bus services is as limited as possible, Stagecoach apologise for any inconvenience or delays that this parade or the necessary diversions may cause, which are due to circumstances beyond our control.

Services Affected: 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 12A, 17, 18, 30, E1, E2, E6, X20

Teesside Changes as revealed by the new route map

Service 10: As expected, operates out of Middlesbrough via Albert Road, Borough Road and Longlands. Doesn't appear to operate into James Cook Hospital Grounds instead operating direct along the main road. Serves Ladgate Lane (the first public service along there since the withdrawal of the old 13A back in January 2003. Then follows the 11 route from Acklam Blue Bell to Lingfield Park.

Service 10A: The unexpected one - this is the eastern half of the evening/Sunday services 610/611 from Middlesbrough to Lingfield Park.

Service 11: Reduced to every 30 minutes is the only change.

Service 11A: The Acklam Road section of the 610/611, the only change being the terminus being changed from Hemlington to Lingfield Park. Interworking with the 10A in Lingfield Park.

Service 12: Sunday daytime frequency increased to every 20 minutes from every 30.

Service 13: The only change is the renumbering of the present early morning 39s to 13s

Service 14: Nothing of note from the map

Service 34: Increased to every 20 minutes, normal route to Billingham Town Centre then diverted via the old 68 route to Owington Farm via High Grange, returning via current route - Tunstall Avenue, Satley Road and Wolviston Back Lane are no longer serve by Middlesbrough services

Service 35: Extended to once again serve both ends of Stockton High Street

Service 36: Park End section cut, rest of the route remains unchanged

Service 37: Park End and James Cook section withdrawn, rest of route is unchanged

Service 38: Revised route, operating between Norton Green and the Glebe via the A1027 returning via present route. Park End section withdrawn. A evening and Sunday service reintroduced every hour

Service 36/37/38: Core frequency remains every 7/8 minutes Monday-Saturday daytime, improved frequency of every 15 minutes on evenings and Sundays (increased from the current 3 buses an hour, hourly on 37 and half hourly on 36)

Present Service 39: Journeys are to be renumbered 13

NEW Service 39: The Middlesbrough-Park End section of the 36/37/38. Daytime frequency is reduced from every 7/8 minutes to every 10 minutes, evening journeys will run every 30 minutes with a 20 minutes service on Sunday Daytimes.

Service 52: Frequency unchanged

Service 58: Evening/Sunday service reintroduced, running every 30 minutes (improved frequency over the present hourly 59s)

Service 59: Evening/Sunday service revised to terminate at North Tees Hospital

Service 61: Evening/Sunday service reintroduced, running every 30 minutes Sunday Daytime and every hour evenings

RE: Stagecoach bus changes
As far as I can tell there are no route changes, apart from maybe withdrawing the run around Eagle Park estate?

From the looks of the re-uploaded map, the 10A will operates out via Albert Road and Borough Road to Marton Road rather than via Corporation Road and Cineworld.

New timetables for the Teesside services from end of November are now available on the website... http://www.stagecoachbus.com/tis-service...px?id=3712
Seems to be a few cuts on a Saturday morning which are interesting, frequencies reduced until later in the morning which makes sense. Obviously we knew about the new evening and Sunday additions, plus new service 10.
