I know the person who is currently outside my house knocking on the door very loudly. I used to go to school with him and he nearly killed me.

And he's friends with the teenagers who are on drugs who live opposite me, so he probably knows every movement I do.

If they're into drugs, as you claim, it's unlikely they care about your every movement.

Carphone Warehouse put me under the impression that my phone would be delivered to the shop on Friday, I went today (Saturday) and it's not there!

IF YOU CAN'T PROMISE THE PHONE WILL BE THERE FOR FRIDAY DON'T SAY IT WILL BE THERE FOR FRIDAY!!!

Stupid morons, until my phone arrives I'm going to have no life as I will be still waiting for the phone call to say it has arrived, that's if they don't try and phone the mobile number for my new SIM which I can't put in the phone I don't have yet now can I.

I'm so hacked off now!

Mobile data?

Using Three, I've just killed an hour on the Tyne Tees Xpress by streaming a TV show I missed last night. Signal isn't always great on the A19 so it's highly commendable that it only buffered the once.

Likewise, using my Three mobile data on TTX because wouldn't you know it - 2 branded B9TLs and neither have the WiFi working.

Sure you haven't been kicked off for using too much data? If you're streaming films/TV shows, I have a feeling this may be the case... There's a limit which is why I didn't use the Wi-Fi (which is working) on 6084.

I have undertaken a twice-daily Wi-Fi audit on all vehicles for the past week and none of the TTX vehicles have had issues.

No, I'm only surfing the web as normal. Wasn't showing on my northbound journey on 6048 (0830 out of Middlesbrough) and just won't connect on 6043 which I'm on now (1400 out of Newcastle castle).

That can be proved incorrect - 6043 is now not even showing it on my IPad. So, this one certainly doesn't have it working....

citaro5284 - How far can you go into the system, for example can you see how many devices are connected at any one time and can you see any id for the devices like IMEI numbers ect. I've always wondered if one of you  are sitting in the office thinking this bloke is on that bloody North East Bus forum again. I guess they must be some level of data protection involved but I would also think you would have a responsibility to making sure nothing untold is being viewed of downloaded.

We can set any limits we want, currently we have a 150mb daily limit and also we can block whatever sites we feel necessary.  We also have the ability to setup a landing page.  Most if not all of the other info is held by our supplier as part of the contract and SLA that was signed by Go Ahead.

How much is 150MB?

It mustn't be a lot if I can use 500MB in three days.

Enough to get a commuter through all of their e-mails while downloading images and other files when using Social Media.

Reset during the day to allow commuters to use 150MB on the morning and 150MB on the evening.

This is more than enough - it's not meant to be used for streaming movies and suchlike.

When you look at it as 300MB a day thats very good value for something that is free to the user.

If its not commercially sensitive information.......on average what is the total amount used over a year. Getting ready for the shock of you putting TBs and not GBs.

Just a follow on to the WiFi discussion, do GNE allow Spotify streaming on their WiFi, I've tried multiple times on ANE buses to no avail.

Also, in places with 4G such as routes in Newcastle, Sunderland etc. could operators allow YouTube access, as it wouldn't massively affect the speed would it?

But even with 4G there is still a data charge and a limit would still have to be applied, just you would reah your limit a lot quicker  Big Grin

Ah okay, was just wondering if Arriva we're being a bit cautious, as it doesn't normally take too much of my mobile data, however it may be different over the WiFi

Aye true, didn't really think about that side of it.

Also, do operators use one particular network provider? Just I've noticed that I seem to get good WiFi in places where my mobile data is good, and a bad connection in places that I get poor data.

Ah okay, going to take a guess that Arriva may be with Vodafone then!

Is there an option to get multiple providers, resulting in a better connection?

(14 Mar 2015, 3:54 pm)citaro5284 wrote Yes there is, but remember the more SIM cards you have, the chances are the more it will cost.  If you have a data package say for EE and also a one for Vodafone in the same bus, even if you split the package out, it would probably cost more if you add the package costs together from each provider.

Yeah I'd have expected it to cost more like, I was just thinking, especially for rural routes, if it would be better for operators to select the best two providers for the area the service goes to, and stick two SIM cards in. I know that when I get the X18 down from Berwick, the WiFi may as well not exist, and I'm sure at least one provider will have better coverage in some areas along the route.

Do the companies pay for each individual SIM card, just what happens if a vehicle is off the road?

Guessing you went to the Ashington one?

I was there this morning, getting some food before I made my way back home, was paying at the self service, and saw my bus (7524) turn up at the traffic lights, had to get down the travelator, ran across the road and still made it before it left, don't ask me how!
