Haha, don't worry citaro5284, I'll try to think only happy thoughts...Angel...I quote my late grandad;

''Son, if you're ever on a snail like a 21*, just remember the old bangers we used to get coming back up from the street.''

He was referring to DAFs. Big Grin Would have been on the 729 or 775 or something? Used to be on a service that passed through Pelton, normally a DAF. Wink

*He decided to ride one to Durham and back once. hehehe

Plus, I imagine yourself and Dan will have done a good enough job on their destinations to make my morning! Wink

Might as well give my opinion as everybody else has, whether the seating on the Bus be Leather or Fabric, I am not bothered as long as I have seat to park my arse on and enjoy the Bus Journey ahead them I am happy.

Not a fan of the leather seating used on Arriva's MAX and Sapphire routes. However, I may find the seating on the Streetlites that are being delivered to be a bit nicer.

Same seating as Arriva are using though isn't it? Apart from this batch for the X66, which is V2...

Did GNE go for these?

Also does anybody know if Arriva opted for the extra deep cushions?

Not sure if Arriva have. I wouldn't say the cushions are any deeper than that offered previously on the fabric seats. Also comparable to what GNE offer in their Gemini 2s.

Having gotten used to the eLeather, I have to say I find the ride quality a lot more comfortable. I find you don't slide off the seat with the combination of tailored trousers and harsh braking. Wink

Hopefully they'll get the gearboxes set up properly as when ours arrived from Wrights they were terrible! Not to mention being slow, but the gear changes gave everyone whiplash. Thankfully that's much reduced now

Maybe reduced on Teesside, but not at Durham. Nothing has been touched there, and the gear changes still result in you being thrown out of your seat (nothing to do with the e-leather seats!)

Something needs doing about that then. But knowing Durham they've probably just not told anybody, as they do.
Anyone got any experience of the Jesmond ones ?

Had one from Regent Centre to Newcastle (shock - not on the 306 Tongue ) and it seemed to be alright. The problem is mainly noticeable when you go down a gear when going up a bank, and on that stretch, you don't really face that. Durham's 23, on the other hand, has quite a few different levels of gradient to battle. Dread to think what the ride was like for those on Teesside prior to they got sorted out, if it's exactly the same.

The use of e-leather has increased in recent years. If you have ever been on the Arriva OmniCitys allocated to the 685 service - Kuyoyo will gladly inform you that they are trimmed in real leather.

Artificial leather is not new, though texture, feel and appearance have probably greatly improved.

Rexine leathercloth was widely used in trimming and upholstering the interiors of motor vehicles produced by British car manufacturers beginning in the 1920s, its cost being around a quarter that of leather. It was used by the British Motor Corporation in the 1960s and 70s, particularly as a covering for 'crash padding' on dashboards and doors.

Other brands such as Vynide and Ambla were also popular as passenger vehicle (car) trimming materials in the 1970s and are probably still in use today.

Unlike the stuff used in the sixties, e-leather isn't "artificial"... it's made with real leather, apparently:

Three of the four Streetlites for the X66 service have now arrived at Saltmeadows. Following yesterday's arrival, 5393 (NK15 ENC) and 5394 (NK15 ENE) arrived this morning.

Just a thought, if e-leather is made from real leather, I wonder how this sits with Vegans as well as other groups opposed to the use of animal products?
