(30 Oct 2016, 12:47 pm)mb134 So, will all vehicles be supplied by Jesmond? Or will Ashington and Blyth send vehicles to Jesmond on Christmas Eve?

(30 Oct 2016, 6:56 pm)tyresmoke Vehicles would just be from Jesmond I imagine. Its easier if you're trying to run it at low cost.
Hopefully if it is deemed successful they may look at expanding the operation in future years.

(30 Oct 2016, 11:46 pm)mb134 Ah, so no MAX or Sapphire then. (Bar whatever 1408/11 are allocated to).
Hopefully, I imagine driver permitting that a full Sunday service would still run at a profit in most areas, especially if Newcastle and/or Middlesbrough are playing at home. (Perhaps the lack of a Middlesbrough home game this year is why Arriva didn't take the plunge and operate services south of the Tyne?)

(31 Oct 2016, 12:03 am)Ambassador Newcastle don't kick off until 7.45, I'd imagine Arriva will have stopped service by then. Only GNE took up the funding offer from altoonative travel last year for a skeleton evening service.
It's still crazy there's no service on New Years Day but there is on Easter Sunday

(31 Oct 2016, 12:06 am)mb134 I think the Newcastle match will be a main driver behind Arriva's decision to operate services on Boxing Day this year, it would seriously surprise me if they stopped the services before that game kicked off.

With Arriva now running the 308 / 43 on Boxing Day, if NUFC pay out like last year to run extra services after the match, do you think another operator will step in and take the late journeys on with Arriva ceasing to tun between 6pm-7pm? Last year, GNE operated the Boxing Day 309 + Q3 with late journeys but I highly doubt GNE will operate the daytime routes now.

(09 Nov 2016, 9:18 pm)Adrian Bizarre... Newcastle United usually pay operators over the odds to cover the cost, too!

Huw Lewis, Head of Communications and Customer Services at Nexus, said: "On Boxing Day bus operators provide a number of services on core routes throughout Tyne and Wear until around 7pm.
"Metro and the dedicated park and ride X50 'Soccer Bus' will operate this year thanks to support from Newcastle United, but other buses will not be running after the game and there are no national rail services.
"We are working together to make supporters aware of the local transport available so they can plan ahead and enjoy the game."

Just messaged Arriva who said that they won't be operating extra match services as they can't predict the demand?????!!!!
Unless they can't get the drivers, they'd be mad not to and the drivers would most likely end up having to rev the t**s of whatever is allocated if they ran a small number of the routes!
Could easily operate the following:
- 308 at 22:10 to Billy Mill (single deck) followed by 22:15 service to Blyth.
- X10 at 22:15 to Blyth operating via 43 route between Newcastle and Cramlington then resuming normal route. Additional service (single deck) at 22:10 between Newcastle and Cramlington only. Would also operate via Northburn between Cramlington and Laverock Hall.
- X21 to Ashington at 22:15 with buses operating a loop around Stakeford covering parts of X22 route.
- X16 to Morpeth at 22:15 via X22 route to Bedlington, then non-stop to Stannington joining the A1 then normal route to Morpeth.
