Venture Transport operated services in the Derwent Valley between Consett and Newcastle upon Tyne. It was founded after World War I, and, on 1 May 1970, it was sold to the Northern General Transport Company with 86 buses.

Pending delivery of new "Red Arrows" branded Mercedes Citaros, this vehicle has entered service at Washington Depot. Once the new Mercedes Citaros are delivered, it is expected that this vehicle will transfer to Chester-le-Street Depot, seeing use on the "Angel" services.
