This vehicle, which carries a two-tone blue base livery, has arrived into the Arriva North East fleet. It is currently being prepared for service at Ashington Depot. Representing an investment of approximately £2.9m, this batch of vehicles have been ordered to replace the older ADL Enviro400s currently allocated to "Sapphire" services X21/X22 (Newbiggin - Ashington - Newcastle). Internally; they feature Esteban Civic V3 seating complete with e-leather, free Wi-Fi, 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements and USB charging points.

At Riverside; this vehicle should act as a spare vehicle for services allocated Optare Versas which do not have any premium features such as Wi-Fi and Next Stop Announcements (such as services 67/69 and 88/88A).

A large number of double-deck vehicles are required over the summer months, due to Go North East being awarded with the contracts to operate additional services for special events and Metro Replacement. As such; this vehicle, which would have otherwise been withdrawn in line with the cascade of Optare Versas from Deptford Depot to Riverside, has instead been moved into a float/reserve capacity at Riverside Depot, and will be allocated to a Miscellaneous Works running board normally allocated a double-deck vehicle, but does not contractually require this capacity during school holidays, releasing the double-deck vehicle normally allocated for Metro Replacement work.

In line with the entry into service of new Wright Streetlites on "Black Cats" service 39, the Wright Solar bodied Scania L94s previously allocated to this service have cascaded to service 61. This service has recently seen a temporary allocation of "See it, Do it, Sunderland" branded Mercedes Citaros, following the transfer of the operation of this service to Chester-le-Street, but are now gradually being replaced by the branded Scania L94s. This vehicle has returned to Go North East following internal refurbishment and repaint into a light grey base livery. The shade of paint is a different colour to the silver previously used on "The Crusader" service 27, with the company moving away from metallic paint colours in favour of standard solid colours, which are easier to maintain and colour-match when panels are damaged and need to be changed. It is currently undergoing preparation for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot prior to allocation to Riverside Depot.

Manufactured by Wrightbus in Northern Ireland, this batch of vehicles feature the latest Euro 6 Micro-Hybrid engines with the cleanest vehicle emissions standards. Unlike previous examples in the fleet, they therefore feature a Wrightbus grille on the rear bonnet, providing additional air circulation. This vehicle has been temporarily withdrawn from service at Riverside Depot and released for internal refurbished and repaint at Bus & Coach World, Blackburn. The extensive refurbishment work includes, but is not limited to, external repaint; deep cleaning of the interior of the vehicle; renewal of floor coverings; cleaning all seat frames and re-trimming seats into leather with USB sockets on the back of every seat; fitting blue accent lighting underneath seats to provide extra light on the gangway; and fitting Next Stop Announcements.
In line with the entry into service of new Wright Streetlites on services 2/2A; this vehicle, which was previously allocated to these services and branded as "SimpliCity", has been repainted into Go North East's corporate livery. This example carries the tagline "Our buses run 35 million miles a year - that's like going to the moon and back 72 times".
