You do realise that there's a lot of people in the private sector working still, as there's no statutory requirement to give someone a day off on a bank holiday.

Lots of businesses have too much work on, and given the short notice of it, can't afford the break in production. Unless you're suggesting it's because they're all republicans?

Given everything mentioned in this thread over the last week, there's probably more people at work than not.

Tbf, with basically every food shop shutting I honestly doubt it, and McDonalds is closed till 5, I am not sure about KFC. But before 5pm Monday I would say a pretty large chunk of people are off.

Ultimately you don't have to be a sworn Republican to not want to have anything to do with this enforced state of mourning. People will be inconvenienced, but it's just one day. I disabled royal news on browser, personal and work and phone, so you can get by without it being rammed down your throat, and a few closures isn't that big a deal. It's a pity those who had day trips and such spoilt, and sadly it seems few are able to get compensation.

I was a teacher for well over 30 years and am not a republican so you should not assume that ALL teachers are!

When I booked my appointment for my booster I didn't even think about checking the bus timetables for today, turns out because of the hourly service on the Arriva 6 I have a 50 minute wait when I get there, and about a 40 minute wait once I'm done!
