RE: Bus incidents - BusLoverMum - 23 May 2025 (22 May 2025, 5:59 pm)Shrek wrote A cyclist pulled out in front of a 45 on Gosforth High Steer earlier causing the driver to make an emergency stop. Passengers said she did a great job and missed him by inches. Unfortunately a couple of Passengers were injured and they're awaiting an ambulance. We nearly had similar on Durham Road, heading into Newcastle on Wednesday. Some dangerous **** turned right out of Allerdene and headed towards the Angel on the wrong side of the dual carriageway. Thankfully the driver reacted in time to not have to brake too hard. RE: Bus incidents - BusLoverMum - 04 Nov 2025 Allegedly, 6317 was involved in the accident at County Hall, yesterday. The guy who was rather excitedly telling everyone on the 64 about it, this morning, might have been making assumptions but bustimes has it caught up in the disruption at the right time and it's off the road today. Unlike the City Centre ones, this one is with snow and ice on the road, and I think the driver has been trying to get as close to the kerb as possible to avoid slips or falls. Unfortunately, as described, it sounds like the bus has hit ice and then the shelter. Could have been nasty, yes, but it wasn't. Not sure it's worth running to the papers and going back out there to get a photo with sad faces. RE: Bus incidents - Shrek - 22 Nov 2025 (20 Nov 2025, 6:27 pm)Adrian wrote Anything for a sob story in the Chronicle! It's still a serious incident and whilst nobody was hurt, that's more down to luck. I'd say this is something the Chronicle should be reporting on. RE: Bus incidents - Storx - 22 Nov 2025 (22 Nov 2025, 11:53 am)Shrek wrote It's still a serious incident and whilst nobody was hurt, that's more down to luck. I'd say this is something the Chronicle should be reporting on. There's road accidents every day all over the place, the paper would be full of minor accidents if we reported everyone as someone 'nearly' did something. Just because it's a bus makes no difference. Mind as crap as the Chronic is these days, it'll probably suit them to the ground. RE: Bus incidents - morritt89 - 22 Nov 2025 Can anyone remember the incident in icy weather several years ago where a bus hit a patch of ice and spun round. I believe it to be the Felling bypass (or at least near Heworth) and it was a yellow bus Olympian (possibly X10). I've seen several news reports during the stretch of wintery weather involving large vehicles 'coming to grief' including at least 3 about snow ploughs/gritting trucks in various parts of the country. Not sure what the aim is, scare people into not going out? Just because it's a bus makes no difference. I completely disagree, I think when it involves a professional driver it always becomes newsworthy, whether that's a bus/truck/ambulance driver etc. I also think this is a serious incident where it's good fortune that nobody got hurt. I'll be interested to see what the report from the investigation shows. RE: Bus incidents - morritt89 - 25 Nov 2025 658 has been involved in a nasty accident with a HGV at Hendon Grange traffic lights, Sunderland RE: Bus incidents - Andreos1 - 27 Nov 2025 Wonder what this looks like on Bus Times? Bet he's got some explaining to do, as unless Arriva have different rules, I thought bus drivers aren't meant to reverse a bus full stop without a spotter (company rules rather than law), never mind doing a u-turn. There are multiple places Arriva buses reverse in service without a spotter, even excluding bus stations. Thropton and Craster spring to mind. U-turns are a different matter of course. Thropton and Craster spring to mind. Yeah fair, wasn't too sure on the rules with Arriva. I know it's been mentioned before, I believe with Stagecoach, that they weren't meant to do it, at all, outside bus stations. There's quite a few videos around on moron car driver channels with stand offs with First buses down South aswell, under the same rule. I know one of the 57A appears to have a similar incident last week aswell (https://bustimes.org/services/57a-cramlington-to-north-shields/vehicles?date=2025-11-19#journeys/807126073) - luckily he was awake as that would've been a nasty mistake, hasn't been an incident down there for awhile either. |
