With the plan of knocking the parking shed down once the chargers on the back yard are done to allow the 18 buses out on the 30/31/36 I do wonder if the plan is for Slatyford to go fully electric. The neighbours would complain about the noise of diesel buses, and the fact they’re not maintaining the buses very well makes me think there’s a plan in place for EV’s.

They'd have been far far better off keeping the 24xxx E300s in service imo, at least they could somewhat handle the loadings (and weren't quite as bad inside!). 

As an aside - how 19389 is still going baffles me. It's comfortably the slowest E400 I've ever been on, and when I was last upstairs on it in December the pillar was fully detaching from the upper windscreen every time there was any impact (bump in the road etc.).

(14 Feb 2026, 9:51 pm)BusEnthusiast.com wrote Slatyfords fleet is shocking.I 100% agree with whoever said about how the e200s are just not out of their depot,they’re useless as they will be so largely packed about mid way through a route and how unbelievably unreliable they are,Then the 106**s are beyond horrific,i cannot remember the fleet code but it was either 10647 or 10648 the other day had broke down on the X47 on Tudor way near Ponteland road,Stuck for about 15 minutes until 2 buses behind came to the rescue mid rush hour.Slatyford must up their maintenance management as soon as possible or it will go downhill quick.The 262**s just have broken NSAs half the time due to bad maintenance aswell,but at least NSA is the least important thing that slatyford has to worry about,but shows how shocking slatyford are at the moment.Something needs done very quick tbh.(Didn't mean for this to be a paragraph btw lol)

Is there a limit when a vehicle must be removed from service to be charged? We have an electric car, and according to the manufacturer, battery level shouldn't be allowed to drop below 20% (if it does, then you have reduced power and reduced function etc).
