Must be a fairly recent thing then. All of the HSTs that i have seen have had 9 carriages.

Mark 4s should have 9 carriages; sometimes being less in the case of any coach failure etc.

Train plans as below, both HST and Class 91 having 9 carriages each on East Coast, however I think on East midlands they only have 8.

Ah my apologies! That many formations out there I get lost off!

91114 entered service today.

1E06 seemed to have pretty big problems this morning, 0650 Glasgow Central to London King's Cross after having its line light disappear then unable to raise the pantograph. ECML Thunderbird was dispatched from Craigentinny to take the set back to Glasgow/Polmadie.

I have tried twice to catch THAT train both times it was cancelled from Edinburgh  Angry

Today is the last day you can claim/redeem your rewards.

You can use them for a period of 6months, from today.

A brilliant scheme, replaced by a pretty naff one.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - Andreos1 - 02 Oct 2015

Love seeing VTEC being trolled on twitter.

The removal of Rewards hasn't done them many favours.

Whilst the thief deserves his 5 minutes of fame, the use of the stock photograph made me chuckle.

Currently travelling south, being hauled by 91101.

Has it been at the London end for a while or is it just a recent quirk?

Can happen sometimes, especially at Newcastle if its routed over the HLB from Durham, in which case the 91 will face the London end.

Is the HLB got wires....if they have I have never noticed them.

I thought initially the set had been flipped around, like if it had came out over the HLB.
However, the coaches were set up as normal - with 1st being at the London end and B being at the Northern end.

I didn't get to see what was behind B unfortunately.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - MVK 500R - 18 Oct 2015

If the coaches were in the correct position, then it's possible a TDM failure is the reason.

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't that the correct way?

DVT facing south and 91 facing north? Thats the FS liveried DVT, which was originally on the same set as 91101.

Yes I know, just as Andreos said 91101 was facing south when his photo was of the FS liveried DVT.

It is. You are right.
I was hoping to have deleted the photo before anyone noticed.

Sitting here looking at it and then noticed the '205' in the bottom right hand corner, which indicates it is the DVT

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - Andreos1 - 20 Oct 2015

Does anyone know where the EC repaints are being done?
I saw 91109 parked up amongst the goods trains at Doncaster the other day and wasn't sure if it there had been a failure, it was due some work/maintenance or was getting a re-paint.

Maybe one to keep an eye on - particularly with it being a named example.

Bounds Green (225) and Edinburgh Craigentinny (125), I believe.

If that's the Bobby Robson one it failed at York a few weeks ago and was dragged to Newcastle where it was the hauled to Heaton.

Heavy maintenance and exams are usually undertaken by Wabtec in Doncaster. Could be there from a failure or a forecasted exam.

91101 has received new Flying Scotsman livery.

Assuming the white St Andrews cross is mean to represent the Saltire, I am not sure the red and white will go down well with too many Scots. Maybe, including Mr Souter.

It looks like Dicky B is more bothered about his branding than a 15th C colour scheme.
