Defeats the whole point of a brand if it's gonna stay there, is that why it never came through Newcastle?

What happens if there's going to be a relaunch of the Flying Scotsman....?

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - omnicity4659 - 27 Oct 2015

Apologies, 91101 is on the Edinburgh-London runs today. I misread someone's screenshot of 91111's workings....oops!

Looks like more blue/purple, than on the deleted version.

There is also mention of engine work for the HST's.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - R852 PRG - 29 Oct 2015

A Class 91 Mk4 set failed over Chester-le-Street viaduct earlier. The Class 91 was still in the ''Virgin Wrap'' that was applied upon takeover earlier in the year, it that helps narrow down the number. Thunderbird was called from Newcastle I believe.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - Andreos1 - 06 Nov 2015

Just seen 91101 in the flesh for the first time since the repaint.

Not too sure on it...

Next VTEC arrival northbound into Newcastle if anyone is after it.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - MVK 500R - 12 Nov 2015

Just clocked a Class 43 on 1E15 pulling into Central Station in reverse formation.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - Davie - 15 Nov 2015

91130 has apparently been repainted into the new Virgin Trains livery

Just saw 67016 drag a Mk4 set into Newcastle minus the 91. I'm assuming it's 5G03.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - omnicity4659 - 24 Nov 2015

All lines between Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Newcastle are currently blocked due to a person being struck by a train

Delays expected until at least 15:00

Affecting Northern, Virgin Trains East Coast & CrossCountry

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - northern156 - 24 Nov 2015

Spittal. 1S11 (43367/43313) and 1E15 both diverted via Carlisle.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - DanPicken - 25 Nov 2015

Virgin Trains EC:
#VTECUpdate Due to a fault on a train in front of ours at Darlington some Northbound lines are blocked which may cause delays up to 30 mins.

45mins and counting so far...

Efit: Ended up stuck outside Darlo and moving between signals, for over an hour and a half in the end.
Darlington station had platforms 1 and 4 working dual directions to clear the backlog.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - LeeCalder - 25 Nov 2015

Yes, there was a Class 66 (Freightliner I believe, but I've also been told it was DB Schenker) which failed smack bang in the middle of the platform.

RE: East Coast / Virgin Trains East Coast - PH - BQA - 26 Nov 2015

Not really too sure on how trains work, logistically, can anyone explain what's happening here, has it broke down or?

Was just flicking through pictures on Flickr and came across it, and became pretty confused   Undecided

As the train is an electric set (Class 91 - InterCity 225) and requires overhead wires to power it which Carlisle to Newcastle doesn't have, the electric sets have to be dragged over the lines.

Ah that makes sense!  Angel

Why allocate a train to a route it can't do, or was there some kind of diversion in place?

They are currently being diverted.

Yes, the Newcastle to Edinburgh section of the ECML is closed for four weekends for engineering work. Virgin Trains East Coast have been diverting via Carlisle.

I believe there isn't enough while keeping normal HST sets unaffected.
