RE: July service changes 2026 - SN69 ZRC - 17 Jun 2026 (16 Jun 2026, 10:17 pm)Storx wrote Not sure there'd be much demand tbh, it was only merged imo to reduce the number of buses between Newcastle and Gateshead (down from 6 to 3). The way I see it, the 301 going all the way to Metrocentre is just a "loop-hole" as such for Percy Main to run the 97 RE: July service changes 2026 - Nerd4321 - 17 Jun 2026 (08 Jun 2026, 7:10 am)Nerd4321 wrote Go North East 19th July AD122 renumbered to 122 RE: July service changes 2026 - L469 YVK - 17 Jun 2026 Would it not be better swapping the 301 to replace the 57 (every 20 mins using single decks), and perhaps extend the 97 to Hadrian Park as per the 'old' 57/58, allowing the 307 to miss out Hadrian Park? Maybe every 20 mins all through, or every 15 MetroCentre > Newcastle then every 30 to Hadrian Park. Could even with agreement from Nexus, allow the 350/351 to be kept on Station Road and the extended 97 (or whatever number) covers Wiltshire Drive to differentiate from the 307/309. Quite an easy win from a regulation POV as most of Hadrian Lodge can walk to Station Road / Coast Road for the other buses if disruption on the western part of the route. Likewise, the 307/309 & 340/341 with comms to passengers would cover Hadrian Park. RE: July service changes 2026 - V514DFT - 17 Jun 2026 We dont need another service suggestions thread RE: July service changes 2026 - Nerd4321 - 17 Jun 2026 (17 Jun 2026, 1:59 pm)L469 YVK wrote Would it not be better swapping the 301 to replace the 57 (every 20 mins using single decks), and perhaps extend the 97 to Hadrian Park as per the 'old' 57/58, allowing the 307 to miss out Hadrian Park? RE: July service changes 2026 - Nerd4321 - 17 Jun 2026 (17 Jun 2026, 3:36 pm)F114TML wrote Should put the 56 through Hadrian Park. I hear thats part of the upcoming December consultation. In fact I hear every bus route in the North East is gonna go via Hadrian Park RE: July service changes 2026 - Arlo400H - 17 Jun 2026 (17 Jun 2026, 1:59 pm)L469 YVK wrote Would it not be better swapping the 301 to replace the 57 (every 20 mins using single decks), and perhaps extend the 97 to Hadrian Park as per the 'old' 57/58, allowing the 307 to miss out Hadrian Park? As someone who gets all the 300s frequently this is a really terrible idea, firstly because the 350/351 pick up/ drop off almost the entire bus on Wiltshire drive, if they were to avoid it they might as well just go straight down to wallsend ? also the reliability of the 300s is already not great and by making it cross city it’s only gonna get worse (not to mention the fact 14bph is enough so adding more wouldn’t be worth it, gne is already considering reducing the 307/309) RE: July service changes 2026 - L469 YVK - 17 Jun 2026 (17 Jun 2026, 4:35 pm)Arlo400H wrote As someone who gets all the 300s frequently this is a really terrible idea, firstly because the 350/351 pick up/ drop off almost the entire bus on Wiltshire drive, if they were to avoid it they might as well just go straight down to wallsend ? also the reliability of the 300s is already not great and by making it cross city it’s only gonna get worse (not to mention the fact 14bph is enough so adding more wouldn’t be worth it, gne is already considering reducing the 307/309) True about the extra buses per hour as there's already enough as is. And I suppose other than a handful wanting the cross city links, most just want St Mary's & Haymarket along the Coast Road. Saying that, a merger of the 57 & 301 wouldn't be a bad shout with the 97 going back on it's own. RE: July service changes 2026 - Nerd4321 - 18 Jun 2026 https://www.gonortheast.co.uk/your-guide-our-service-changes-sunday-19-july-2026 Of course with GNE now theres spelling mistakes and errors in the article cause why should anyone proof read it anymore RE: July service changes 2026 - L469 YVK - 20 Jun 2026 Why didn't GNE do something as simple as this? - X32 via Shield Row and interworking with X73 only (no low bridges - PVR 4) - X31 2bph and interworking with X70/X71 (PVR 8) - X30 evenings & Sundays only Literally no major change other than East Stanley losing the Gateshead link, with Catchgate & Annfield Plain benefiting from the restored Gateshead link. And all the X31/X70/X71 reliefs could be done in Consett. GNE are clearly having issues with the X10 and three extra Enviros at Riverside (alongside 6352-55) would resolve these instead of gutless 4 pot StreetDecks or ex London/GAG B9TLs which should be nowhere near the A19. RE: July service changes 2026 - AJC1991 - 20 Jun 2026 (20 Jun 2026, 10:57 am)L469 YVK wrote Why didn't GNE do something as simple as this? Since when did GNE do anything the simple way? ..tbf not sure many of the ex London stock (and even some "nattive" stuff now- see Crusader deckers etc) should be near serious front line work aside from odd "pottering" route but thats another thread and story i guess..
RE: July service changes 2026 - Nerd4321 - 20 Jun 2026 So the 301 change isn't a timetable or route change at all. On the 22nd June the service will now stop at Market Street East heading towards Byker RE: July service changes 2026 - V514DFT - 20 Jun 2026 Reverting to its previous route, therefore it is a route and timetable change RE: July service changes 2026 - Nerd4321 - 25 Jun 2026 So i was re reading the timetable changes and noticed a few things that just seem off AD122 "This service will be displayed as “122” on the Go North East app and in online journey planners" So what its gonna display AD122 on the dest but 122 on the App Service X31 The Saturday 17:55 service X31 from Newcastle to Consett will depart at 18:00 and operate 5 mins later throughout. View the new X31 timetab First thats not how you spell timetable and 2nd. The X31 doesn't go to Consett 643 Due to Nexus contract changes, this service will now be operated by Northstar. 644 This service will be withdrawn due to very low passenger demand. Services 643 and 301 will still provide links in this area Nice to see GNE finally acknowledged Northstar since for a while they were referred to as "another operator" and also "very low demand" why did it even exist in the first place. Its probably that one service that was never ever talked about or anyone even knew existed. Hell even i didn't know where it went or what it was even for RE: July service changes 2026 - citaro5284 - 26 Jun 2026 (25 Jun 2026, 8:36 pm)Nerd4321 wrote So i was re reading the timetable changes and noticed a few things that just seem off They have started using a new scheduling system - maybe it cannot cope with a 5 digit route number..... But it still doesn't confirm if it will have AD122 on the dest or 122 RE: July service changes 2026 - Liam Hall - 26 Jun 2026 (25 Jun 2026, 8:36 pm)Nerd4321 wrote So i was re reading the timetable changes and noticed a few things that just seem off It will say 122 on the destination displays unfortunately

You make it sound like we're in the 90s again, and the scheduling system can't handle a 5-digit route number in the same way as a modern computer back then wouldn't be able to handle the year 2000 after 1999. You'll be claiming the railways won't be able to handle modulator-demodulators, and have to rely upon facsimiles to communicate next.... RE: July service changes 2026 - XQ Zero - 26 Jun 2026 A service 300 has been registered to operate between Tynemouth Metro and Whitley Bay Holiday Park from 18 July until 31 August. Presumably it will use an open-top bus. The registration is PB0003954/1498 RE: July service changes 2026 - Retro Nero - 27 Jun 2026 Anyone know how to find nexus July bus changes in there new website RE: July service changes 2026 - XQ Zero - 27 Jun 2026 (27 Jun 2026, 10:31 am)Retro Nero wrote Anyone know how to find nexus July bus changes in there new website My understanding is all public transport information for Kim McGuiness' area is now on the Travel North East website Plan your journey, tickets and latest travel news | Travel North East there is also a link to it from the new Nexus website. At the moment there does not appear to be a section giving details of forthcoming alterations although they may appear on the travel updates section nearer the time. Currently, if you want to access the July 19 timetables, you will have to go onto the Timetables section and put the service number in the search facility and then click on one of the options you are given. Change the date, confirm, and if necessary change the time as well. You should then see a service information box. Click on this and another box will appear to the right of the screen showing Download service timetable. Click on this and you will obtain the new timetable. Unfortunately for a service operated by more than one operator, e.g. the Gateshead to Metrocentre 96, each operator's journeys now appear on separate sheets. The press release on 16 June for this new website states; "The site has been designed to be user-friendly and easy to navigate and has considered consumer feedback from the Nexus Insight Panel." User-friendly? Easy to navigate? I don't think it is but I will let others find out for themselves. Timetable is also very tight. I'd love to see Go North East do this to one of the Scania E400's.
