Any idea's for the 28/28A? Everyone seems to forget about them...... 52 plate Scania's which rattle to death on there. Passengers are always moaning about them. I would have thought the Versa's on the 34 will move on at some point?

Versa quite well suited to the 34 - don't think these will cascade on to another route yet, especially after busmanT has voiced his doubts of further new single-deck investment after the next batch due.

I don't think they will yet, over time I would imagine so. There's generally about two off the road each day of the week, they seem very tired. Crawling up Pelaw Bank, it's very very tedious Tongue

RE: Go North East: 2016/17 Financial Year Order Predictions - busmanT - 17 Apr 2017

(09 Apr 2017, 7:50 pm)Michael wrote Would make sense due to the reason above, it would also mean there's 3 spares for the THE 49/Saltwell Park/Citylink 57/58 and the X66.

Cascades:

Citaro's:

Blue Arrow: 5293- 5297 and 5320 - 5322 + 3 (that includes a spare) of the refurbished ones from the ex Blaydon Racer batch

---------------

Versa's

5377 - 5384 - Loop

-------------------

Scania's from both Blue and Loop to replace older Scania's in the fleet.

It'll depend on what colour the Citylink 57 Citaro's come back as, we might be waiting at least 3-4 weeks, think they're still waiting on around 6 or 7 of the Ex Blaydon Racers Citaro's to arrive back.

The Scania L94 on the Loop have exhaust after-treatment (SCRT) fitted, funded with a government grant in partnership with Gateshead Council - these are likely to remain on the Loop for some time, as are the Scania L94 on Green Arrow.

Oh well, i'll change my predication's:

18 Streetlites:

9 Streetlites for Percy Main for the "Blue Arrow"

9 Streetlites for the 2/2A - Simplicity dropped in Favour for "The 2"

I wonder when the first lot will arrive, as they may end up being delivered until July

Weren't the fast cats scanias and prince bishop scanias had treated the same with funding?.

All of the Scanias which are rated Euro 5 within the fleet had the Eminox Modifications, I personally think the "Loop/Green Arrow" are long overdue an upgrade, could argue the 93/94 haven't had new vehicles for 13 Years now.

Never really been a priority for upgrades since the days of the 721/709/728/733.

I'd imagine it's at the bottom of a long list. They seem to have enough liveried and corporate spares to comfortably cover. Reliability is an issue but that didn't seem to make them speed the DAF withdrawal up at the time.

Its a shame to hear these Scanias are in this state. I remember when they were brand new on the 194 and they were brilliant buses. Very fast, comfortable and reliable back in the day. Mind I think its understandable with the demands of some of GNEs routes and the state of our roads why some buses are in a tired state. Some of the 54 plate Scania's were ran ragged when they were previously used on the Fab 56.

I would of expected that the loop would get these black refurbished citarios, wasn't the fast cats and loop got branded roughly the same time and both services got newer scanias at the same time.

RE: Go North East: 2016/17 Financial Year Order Predictions - S813 FVK - 25 Apr 2017

Is it likely that Go North East would ever look into purchasing the low height version of the Streetdeck for routes such as the X30 (and the rest of the 'Toon Link' network)? At 13ft 10in, they would be able to fit under the low bridge on Ellison Road at Dunston which has a height of 14ft 3in which only the 61xx Omnidekkas are able to go under (at Stanley).

It's the 09 plate Versa's which crawl up Pelaw Bank, not the Scania's they fly up hills.

Stanley? New double deckers? What? [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]
I personally think the route for the X30 is a horrible idea, I think it should turn left at the dun cow and on to low teams and follow the evening 10a/b route into town, as it currently does when a 14"6 vehicle is allocated.

RE: Go North East: 2016/17 Financial Year Order Predictions - Michael - 14 May 2017

So i was bored so i did a new predication's list for where the 18 Streetlites could go and the cascades which could happen:

1 spare

(Will have 3 spares with 5438 and 5439 for services 2/2A, 20/20A and 35)

Cascades:

8325/26 to Chester as spares

Various older Scania’s in the fleet due to cascades

---------------

Might be a few mistakes (over/under counting)

At the moment there are no float vehicles at Riverside. Currently two at Stanley (ex-Plymouth Solo in the fleet pending service changes on 21st May) and one at Deptford (MPD 564, also retained pending PVR increase for new Nexus contract 593).

On paper, the entry into service of the new Streetlites on services 49/49A allowed 5275 - 5283 and 5293/94 to be released for refurbishment. A handful of buses were withdrawn at this time, though their replacements came in the form of 4926 and 4927 from Chester-le-Street at a later date.

The return and entry into service of 5275/76/78/79/82 will release 5234-38 to Stanley, 5283 in fleet livery will allow a Volvo B10BLE to be withdrawn at Riverside (should be 4899 though this is subject to change), while 5277/80/81/93/94 will allow for a fleet of five float vehicles at Riverside (4898, 4922 and 4926/27/29). Once the final Crusader is refurbished, these five buses will be withdrawn.

I think some of the See It, Do It, Sunderland Mercs will end up on 5/50 to therefore replace the Omnicities and further standardise the fleet at Washington, with the Omnicities then going to Chester le Street for the 13/14/X22 & 28/28A, then the Solars allocated to the these services would either be withrawn directly or replace older Solars in the fleet which would then be withdrawn.

Haven't some of them just been repainted in the livery?, seems daft to remove after a year although, i do agree with you, would seem the best way to do it.

The northern brand on omnidekkas lasted just over a year. Half a year before that they were all sprayed into red. Now they're being painted black or having blue applied.

I'm not sure the cost of paint really bothers the company and isn't a real factor into selecting vehicle types at a depot.

5243 to 5247 were repainted in March/April 2016, while 5255 to 5260 were all repainted in November/December 2013 ahead of the arrival of the B9's for the 309/310, so with Go North East repainting vehicles every 4 years then the latter will be due for a freshening up.

They might, does the 5 and 50 get busy enough to gain something like a Citaro though?

Don't see them so wouldn't know.

50 is standing room only when I got on it at Lambton on a morning to go work at 09:30am, other journeys throughout the day a quite busy, especially if the weather is like it is today, as for the 5 I have no idea as i've never been on the service.

50 certainly does get busy, at any time of day and on any given section of route too. Summer Sundays sometimes see Washington put deckers out on it. The 5 is rather less busy, and most of the day a Solo would cope on there. Probably gets busy passing Boldon School when the kids come out though.

The Omnicity's don't have any " Air Conditioning" of the sort, Only the Cold Fan which blows Humid Air from outside around the vehicle, Thus can barely be felt.
Citaro's do indeed have Air Conditioning, Something which is Luxury in buses.

5 Get's busy on the 2 trips that fit around School finishing times, Apart from that, During the daytime its decent with quite a few passes heading into Jarrow/Shields for shopping, Evening's are pretty much Dead to the point I don't get how it can be justified to run even the current Hourly Service.

Not been on one in a while. Assuming they are fairly ragged inside now unless they look after buses better on the Riverside

Theyre decent spec still. Most plugs still work and I feel comfortable. 62 reg, same as hybrids.
