Just not DDA?

They are Low floor as there is no steps to board it just not DDA compliant.

Ok. Suppose i have a point to prove. Which ALX400 is normally allocated to the scholars or does it vary between the 3?

RE: Stanley Travel - NK53 TKT - 06 Oct 2015

Must admit to never hearing of a step entrance ALX400 or B7TL.

RE: Stanley Travel - S813 FVK - 07 Oct 2015

The investigation continues but I was thinking today...

What do you mean when using the term 'low floor'? Do you mean that you don't have to climb up steps to get to the driver in his cab (using the Olympians as an obvious example) or do you mean low floor with a ramp (which is what I was thinking when using the term)?

Just might help sort out some confusion thats all.

A bus which is "low-floor" is one which provides step-free access to passengers between the doors and the saloon of the vehicle itself. There are very few vehicles that I know of that provide step-free access for drivers. A vehicle does not have to be equipped with a ramp to be low-floor, though if one is not fitted, it means that the vehicle will not be classed as DDA-compliant.

The Alexander ALX400 bodied vehicles in Stanley Travel's fleet are low-floor, and seem to crop up on scholars services in the Bensham area quite regularly. Some of the 03-reg President bodied vehicles sound rougher than some of Go North East's V-reg examples (and that's saying something)..!

Apologies. When i said 'up to the driver' i meant the passenger not having to step up to be in front of the driver rather than the driver itself.

I have always used the terms 'low floor', 'high floor' and 'step entrance' to describe entrances. Low floor being easy access, high floor being not easy access (which is the category id put the ALX400s in) and step entrance being the Olympian style entrance. Obviously, i have never been aware of the fact that 'low floor' can be merged with my 'high floor' category - its a lot wider than i thought.

It certainly clears that debate up anyway, thanks!

Annoyingly the only bus that serves my school is K2 STX (or a coach if were lucky). Did they buy it specifically for Tanfield School or was it for something else originally.

They bought it a few years ago as a spare vehicle but with the 706/707 being withdrawn, rather than allocating the old E200/Vario, they now allocate K2.

Aha. Thank you. They started using it this year when the y7's joined. Its not a nice vehicle to travel on, mainly because of age!

Just to le everyone know, Stanley Travel put S4 STX on the 18A (my schools bus) this morning, my school did not complain and I saw it had a space for a wheelchair onboard. I think this makes it LOW-FLOOR

That is the only one of the 3 that has a ramp and space for a wheel chair.

Also:

TX63 STX now carries the name 'Riley James'

Shouldn't do.

Wouldn't be surprised if it starts to make appearances at rallies.

ON02 (?) was on the Durham services tonight.

The ampersand had a distinctive gaelic flare to it and can only describe it as going to 'Durham é The Cathedral'.

(14 Sep 2015, 4:10 pm)S813 FVK wrote MPD OO05 STX (RX56 BWE) has been repainted white and is now up for sale as it is no longer required in the fleet following the loss of service 23.

RX56BWE is now with Panther Travel working out of their Stansted depot on the 30 route. It is now in Panther Travels blue on white livery and in recognition of its last home it has been named Stanley.
