(24 Jan 2015, 3:36 pm)Dan wrote Takes more than just 35 minutes to get from Grindon to the Wheatsheaf, doesn't it? Sounds fishy to me - maybe just a half arsed driver!

Seem to recall it taking around 25-30 from Premier Rd to the City Centre, but it was a few years ago now, so I may be wrong.

Guess it was the 16:22 19 from Grindon Michael was on. Its 38 minutes from Grindon to Wheatsheaf. Premier Road (Plains farm Club) to City Centre is 23 minutes. Timings are very tight on the 18 and 19 and that's why it ends up late quite often . Its worse at the minute with temporary traffic lights at Seaburn and Brian Mills, if you miss seaburn temporary lights in both directions to South Bents it adds 8 minutes to the schedule, remembering you only get 7 minutes from the Seaburn Hotel to South Bents and back to the Seaburn Hotel.

Maybe the half arsed driver had tried his best, kept to the speed limits, waited for the hordes of concessionary pass holders to be seated before he tried to make time up hes lost due to all of the above as well as the match traffic.

Do you think stagecoach on Teesside well get new buses to replace the last of old Alx 300 or will there be getting second hand buses. why don't stagecoach north east never buy minibus anymore

I don't think there's any need for minibuses within their North East networks? What's the point of buying them, if you'd need to increase the frequency, in order to cater for the passenger numbers?

RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion V2.0 - glen1234 - 25 Jan 2015

I thank some alx 200 and transbus pointer dart would be good on some route on Teesside like service like 14 and 11.

Well these are both midibuses - not minibuses - and Sunderland, South Shields and Newcastle all have Enviro200s which are midibuses.

There is clearly a greater demand for services receiving investment in Stockton, and hence the preferred option has been full sized single decks (Enviro300s.)

(21 Jan 2015, 10:07 pm)glen1234 wrote Hi can I ask you a question why stagecoach London get rid of ex Dennis trident like 51 reg  why don't the stagecoach north east ever get some. the other fleet always get some why not north east.

Firstly, no depot is in any need for them, the DDA deadline for deckers doesn't come into place next year - Teesside will be waiting for better buses to come up as they'll last longer. Also, the reliablitly of them will be bleak, they have been on the London roads for over 10 years, they will be worn out. They'll also need the door replacing, which will cost money.

The 14 interworks with the 34, both get relatively full on mornings and evenings (several 34s have standees onboard)
Also, If you put smaller buses on the 10/11, it will prompt more people to get on the 12, as people may be worried about not getting a seat, which will also lead to that bus getting standees (ironically).

I wouldn't be too surprised if near all depots receive some investment over the next year, as lets not forget SPARES also need to be DDA compliant (03/54 plated ALX300's). It will either be that or one depot getting a whole load of single deckers (likely Stalyford) and all the DDA ALX300's will go across the other depots to replace older ones.

And pushing more passengers onto 12s would then make the timekeeping problems even worse than they are already. 12/39 really needs at least 1 extra bus and additional running time (and recover time at Park End - from 2 minutes to turn around to nothing isn't helpful).

Yes, all double decker bus have to be DDA compliant at the stroke of midnight on 1st January 2017. Same as all single deckers need to be DDA by 31st December this year.

Image owned by Flickr user "Sean Blair"

Is this a permanent move or just a loan? I wonder if the 54-plates (22061-66) may be getting swapped with 03-plates?

Doubt that they would be swapped simply because the 54-plate MANs are a year and a half younger than their 03-plate counterparts. If this is a permanent swap then I would expect another more important reason Smile.

RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion V2.0 - glen1234 - 28 Jan 2015

How come stagecoach on Teesside man no 22061-66 have gone to slatyford depot are their getting swapped for 03 man and why.

Glad to see them getting branded. Just to save me a job (I will update fleet lists later), have you got a complete list of the ones branded, with the differing variations?

16 buses are being branded leaving 2 spare unbranded

(28 Jan 2015, 7:08 pm)AIG20 wrote There are three types of the "get there with E's" branding:

  • "Hop on board for all the fun of the fair" (27731/36/38)
  • "Ahoy we're straight on course for the beach" (27734/37/40)
  • “Oh I do like to get the bus to the seaside.” (27725/27/28/35)
I am still unsure about 27739's variation, but I think it is the pirate theme; and I haven't seen 27732 & 33 branded yet. I assume 27723 & 24 will be the unbranded spares.

Thanks, both. Will update accordingly now.
Glad the entire PVR will be branded this time - I never really understood why only half of them were branded last time.

By the looks of it, South Tyneside is split over Network One zones 2 and 3.

Network One - 1 zone
1 week - £18.90
4 weeks - £65.80

Network One - 2 zones
1 week - £21.60
4 weeks - £76.30

Stagecoach South Shields - Megarider
1 week - £10.50
4 weeks - £40.00

Go North East - 'Red' Zone Buzzfare
1 week - £18.50
28 days - £64.80

South Tyneside SmartZone
1 week - £13.00
4 weeks - £50.00

Just as a little side note, Go North East's "South Tyneside Day Saver" does not appear to be offered any more? Also, for passengers travelling to Gateshead and Newcastle on Go North East's 27, the "Crusader" Day Saver is also £13.00 per week.

RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion V2.0 - Simmy - 29 Jan 2015

A megarider can be used on the E services to Sunderland, unlike the SmartZone which is only valid as far as South Bents/Seaburn.
