I hope SNE decide to convert some of the redundant MANs into training buses to upgrade the training fleet, like several other areas are starting to do.

Is the X34 being rebranded? becasue the brand more more more with your X34 will be redundant at the end of the month.

Ive got a feeling it could be inline for a rebrand soon, To tie it in with the X24, Which for half of the route runs alongside the X34.

Never heard anything about the " More more more with your X34 " being dropped soon though, Correct me if I'm wrong.

Nothing been said about stagecoach dropping that brand but the brand was brought in because of the 20 minutes frequency so I personally and a few of my friends think the tagline will be made redundant when the X34 goes back to every 30 minutes

I'm off to work soon, so won't get a chance to see it, might have a pop down Wheatsheaf when i can, might be parked up.

I passed late last night and one was parked round the gas bus refuelling lane.

Should paint the gas buses in stagecoach gold livery.

They have done a really good job of that, certainly appeals to me which is what branding should do.

A good overall brand, But it looks a bit cluttered around the rear in my opinion.

RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2017 - Pulsar - 14 Jan 2017

Really like that branding. Colour scheme works together and suits the Omnilink well. The Express message is clear and effective. Only slight criticism is maybe the pricing should be more towards the front of the bus such as below the Sunderland- Newcastle lettering as the lower pricing is important to attract passengers to a new service over competition so should be as clear as possible. Maybe when I see it in real life though it will stand out enough. Overall much better than I thought it would be.

Likely to be allocated to the 10/11. Of course, wouldn't be at all surprised to see them turn up anywhere.

Tremendous prices, really, but it'll be interesting to see how it pans out in the long term.

I've always thought that Stagecoach's day ticket represents very good value for money, but at the same time, wondered how much money they must make from that ticket. Now they're introducing even cheaper return tickets which represent even better value for money, for infrequent travellers.

Crusader made an interesting point recently elsewhere on the forum here. Competition is all well and good - only time will tell what sort of impact this will have on both Stagecoach and Go North East's services operating between the City Centre and Silksworth. If neither operator is making money on these services, we could well see further cutbacks (from either operator).

12 and 13 haven't had any cuts in this upcoming changes, so they must be doing ok on a 20 minute frequency (10 combined) but doesn't mean they won't in the future.

I'm expecting the 18 to go by end of the year, they cut it last year and now later in the month it's cut again so expecting more later in the year.

Yes; but if passengers currently buying a dayrider for £3.95 opt to purchase a return of £2.60 instead (£1.35 difference), and the reduction in price doesn't attract enough passengers to cover this, further cutbacks could come in the future.

In order to make £395.00, Stagecoach need to sell 100 dayriders. If all 100 of these passengers opt for a £2.60 return instead, they'd only make £260.00 (a loss of £135.00). They'd have to attract an additional 52 passengers buying return tickets to cover the loss, in this example. If Stagecoach only manage to attract an additional 30 passengers from Go North East, they won't have covered their losses, and Go North East's profits will be dented too, potentially resulting in cutbacks on both Stagecoach and Go North East's services in this area.

Obviously it's not quite as simple as that, but just to throw a few simple numbers into the equation. Competition can be great for passengers (and I think the X24 is a great example of this), but competition in areas where there is already dense competition, has the chance to backfire and at the detriment of passengers.

GNE are £2.70 for a return Silksworth to Sunderland so not a massive difference to be fair.

Ye, it'll have an impact on both companies in the area.

The X24 is great competition for GNE, i think i can see a few people jumping to the X24 between Sunderland and Hastings Hill because of the price of the day ticket and the Tyne and Wear day ticket prices and it only takes 43 minutes, it also offers WIFI, and the possibility of plugs (if they can get them working!) something which the 2/2A doesn't have at the minute (going by the the route so not including the 56).

From Sunderland to Washington to Galleries takes 42 minutes and then 35 minutes on the X1 taking a total of 77 minutes (not including waiting times between 2/2A and X1)

I know which service i would go for!

Unless GNE will sort out that problem and launch their own service via the X24 route!

It's that corridor again...
There's obviously a market and a demand (just look at previous price offers and the number of routes operating in those areas). Is there a market to sustain the competition and two operators?
