Can't lie, I've always been on the fence as I think Boxing Day should be a day off for everyone so for anyone who want's their staff in work then they should be providing them a taxi including shop retail. There's another 361 days to go shopping especially (or the internet) when most of it is just tat that they're flogging off out the warehouse anyway. Similar with drinking really, Boxing Day isn't really a day to go out bar to the local pub or whatever for a couple hours. I'm quite glad to see some shops not opening tbh. RE: Boxing Day buses - Storx - 25 Nov 2022 (25 Nov 2022, 10:36 pm)Retro Nero wrote Bus drivers have family and also enjoy a relaxing Boxing Day at home Yeah totally agreed. Now if there was enough drivers, including backend staff, who openly want to work enough to provide a decent skeleton service then fair play then but I'd doubt it. Definitely disagree with normal service though including a Sunday timetable. Mind that said if we are going to run services I wish they'd do special timetables. I really don't see the point in the running the X10 to Blyth stopping no-where or the X1 running non stop along Sheriff Hill, waste of limited resources imo. For Blyth Northumbria the X7 (all stop), X9 (all stop through Gosforth) and 43 would be the better 3 services to run as it would give pretty much all of the Blyth areas some form of service. During the pandemic bus drivers were happy to plea how essential they are, but when it comes to acting like an essential service (which they are!) they're quick to run and hide. I know I'll get hate for saying this again, but it's true. RE: Boxing Day buses - Ambassador - 26 Nov 2022 I’d agree, it’s the one thing that irks me. You work in a service industry, don’t be surprised when you have to work on public holidays. Btw timetables are now up for NYE. Christmas Day: No Metro service. Boxing Day: Weekday service without the additional peak services. 27th-30th: Normal weekday service (minus peaks on 27th) New Years Eve: Saturday service until about 10.00pm, then a 30 minute service (15 minute between Pelaw and South Gosforth) until end of service. New Years Day: No Metro service. RE: Boxing Day buses - R838PRG - 27 Nov 2022 (25 Nov 2022, 11:00 pm)Storx wrote Mind that said if we are going to run services I wish they'd do special timetables. Doesn’t that therefore suggest that it will be all stops on Boxing Day only this year? Again running the 43 and X10, totally pointless considering they serve the exact same areas give or take bar one just drives through non-stop and the X10 avoids most of Cramlington. 75% of Cramlington, most of Seaton Valley and 50% of Blyth have no service at all. The X7, X9 and 43 extended to Blyth via the X11 route all hourly would be better; It would mean all of Cramlington, Seaton Valley and Blyth have some form of bus service including Quorum and the BT Call Centre's which won't be closing on Boxing Day without a magical tour on the 62. Yeah I believe they are with Northumberland CC. Would just think it would make sense to try and cover as much area when you're paying for them. I could have swore they used to extend the 43 instead at one point on a boxing day over running the X10 instead but that was awhile back, was the same time they done the 309 instead of the 308 which probably would make more sense since there's no service to Cobalt at all as far as I'm aware - the 22 is terminating short at Silverlink and I'm sure the likes of EE will still be working. At my depot we're off 25th and 26th December and 1st January and that's that. 27th December and 2nd January are vouluntary at time and a half but no leiu day accrued.
