I predict the hot topic of conversation will move away from the Coast Road. But we will see a load of chat about the types of vehicles and potential cascades. With some Coast Road chat thrown in for good measure. Transfer me £50 and I'll give you the lottery results at the weekend. It's just a matter of time that someone mentions that there's the same number of Angel buses to Cobalt Clipper buses. Sorry but not sorry, I just had to. The Coast Road is actually getting HEBRA (High Emission Bus Regional Area) funding to obtain a fleet of Olympians. Linked to it is the creation of an X38 which, thanks to the HEBRA funding, will do Blyth to Haymarket in 20 minutes as the buses will literally fly up and down the Coast Road slip roads. RE: Apply for zero emission bus funding (ZEBRA 2) - Unber43 - 22 Mar 2024 Is 7.4m enough? RE: Apply for zero emission bus funding (ZEBRA 2) - Michael - 22 Mar 2024 I'd hope the Angel buses would end up on the 56. RE: Apply for zero emission bus funding (ZEBRA 2) - Storx - 22 Mar 2024 (22 Mar 2024, 11:29 am)Michael wrote I'd hope the Angel buses would end up on the 56. I'd say the 10 personally, it's long overdue some form of upgrade and is a busy little corridor. The tables etc would actually be useful. The 56 imo would be ideal for electrics if anything. They’re becoming chronically unreliable, I wouldn’t fancy putting them up and down Old Durham Road and all the way to Sunderland. They’d need a big interior refresh I’d just put them into reserve stock for misc works RE: Apply for zero emission bus funding (ZEBRA 2) - deanmachine - 23 Mar 2024 (22 Mar 2024, 7:37 pm)Storx wrote I'd say the 10 personally, it's long overdue some form of upgrade and is a busy little corridor. Agreed, the only problem with an electric 56 is that it would probably need quite a large PVR to have buses running for 22 hours a day on the route. Yeah fair points, but is it much different than the 21? It's a completely open question I'm actually not sure. Believe they work similar hours and that's working somehow - how is a mystery mind. I think the 21 is going to need extra vehicles to work their current timetable. I don't know for sure, but I don't think an electric vehicle could be out from 5am til 2am the next day like one of the 56 boards is. Yeah I agree to be honest, be interesting to see what the solution is. Wonder if there might be some charging point installed en-route somewhere. Not sure where mind as Chester Le Street, Eldon Square and Brandon aren't exactly the ideal places for them due to space or it being an public street. The 307 & 309 on the otherhand, B9TL's have always been overkill especially the 307. Better option would be StreetDecks on the 307 & 309 with the Cobalt & Coast B9TL's (which have had a very charmed life in comparison to other B9TL's) moved onto the Tyne Valley Ten. Could be done at minimal cost with a partial re-paint (Green & Silver). Then the current TVT B9TL's take a more back seat role or stick with more local work. The fuel savings with StreetDecks on the 307 & 309 as opposed to the 10/10A/10B would be quite significant. Bar the Voith ALX400 Tridents (which were considered lightweight for vehicle standards back in 2000).........the 10 and 602 has always been operated using a mid-heavy duty vehicle (Optare Deltas, Leyland / Volvo Olympians, Volvo B10BLE's, Merc Citaro's, Volvo B9TL's) RE: Apply for zero emission bus funding (ZEBRA 2) - Aaron21 - 24 Mar 2024 (24 Mar 2024, 5:15 pm)L469 YVK wrote Bar the fact that the TVT B9TL's have been worked like dogs and quite a few of them making regular appearances on the X9/X10 and at times lack of suitable spare vehicles, they're a decent enough vehicle. If I could reply with gif. I wonder how many people got confused by them saying "it takes us up to 47 electric buses"... the fact, there's another 18? on order for the 21... surprised they didn't mention those too. Can't remember the numbers but there's the Arriva X46/64 and Stagecoach 30/31 to add into the £7.4m aswell, much more than 11 buses. Yeah no arguments about the Twitter post, it was in relation to the £673k per bus, the £7.4m is across all 3, see: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/zero-emission-bus-regional-areas-zebra-scheme-funding-amounts/zero-emission-bus-regional-areas-zebra-scheme-funding-amounts#fn:1 RE: Apply for zero emission bus funding (ZEBRA 2) - Michael - 27 Mar 2024 (27 Mar 2024, 7:26 pm)Storx wrote Yeah no arguments about the Twitter post, it was in relation to the £673k per bus, the £7.4m is across all 3, see: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/zero-emission-bus-regional-areas-zebra-scheme-funding-amounts/zero-emission-bus-regional-areas-zebra-scheme-funding-amounts#fn:1 Sorry I misread your post! No worries RE: Apply for zero emission bus funding (ZEBRA 2) - Mike_98 - 05 Apr 2024 Doesn't some of this funding go towards Arriva Stockton and Redcar Fleets. I heard they wanted Electrics for the 9 or 15 (can't remember which for Stockton) and 63 for Redcar. Well I know a decent amount of money would have to be spent on infrastructure as Stockton and Redcar have got none at this point in time. RE: Apply for zero emission bus funding (ZEBRA 2) - Glen1974 - 05 Apr 2024 Arrival Redcar and Darlington and stagecoach Stockton mate. Ohh ok so none for Arriva Stockton? Then again that makes a little sense as they have Redcars old Streetlites. I'm assuming thats why. Tbf it will see off a decent amount of Temsa Avenues.
