We had quite an extensive debate about all of these 'celebrities' being found guilty of indecent assaults thirty years after they actually happened a little while ago.

It's always good to bring something controversial up in a lesson where the teachers can't help but to get involved. Great way to pass a lesson, if nobody is arsed about working.

We brought this up in Maths though, and everyone had different views. A lot of people questioned, if these victims of the indecent assault can come forward now after someone else has, why didn't they do it before? Surely any evidence would have been clearer back then, and I'd assume that it would have been kept under wraps a lot more than it would with today's level of media. One girl pointed out that she'd prefer the perpetrator of the abuse to be named and shamed, but another said it would drag her name through the media too, so she wasn't keen on the idea of doing it.

By and large, the teacher was very much in favour of all the victims coming forward to get these people off the streets (he put it a lot differently, as he was rather wound up about it).

Mind, didn't beat the time we got him onto his views about Margaret Thatcher. He was full on shouting about her - saying we were too young to be able to tell him that he shouldn't disrespect her, whatever she had done in the past.

Even in death, that old goat is as divisive as ever, lol, I tended to keep away from that argument, I was alive in the last year's as Prime Minister but was only a child. So I never pitched into that debate while at the same time laughing at people who had never been around then have an opinion and ultimately not having a clue what there talking about.

As for the current crop of old celebs getting done for Rape, Sexual/Indecent Assault, I have often wondered how many come forward because they see an easy payday, I often how many are actually telling the truth...

As for not coming forward before now, the simple answer to that is, if they tried to report it, say, 30 years ago, they would have been branded dirty little slappers trying to ruin somebodies life because they have some kind of vendetta...We saw exactly the same thing back in the 1990's when The Waterhouse Report was done, with all the child abuse scandals in the care system in the 60's, 70's and 80's

Sunderland Festival 2014 was on at Herrington Country Park? Not sure if the 2A or 2C go that way though?

RE: Anything and Everything - Andreos1 - 07 Jul 2014

Again, just picked this up from the news - but it appears Vanessa Feltz has been getting some stick on twitter.

She announced on there, that when hosting The Big Breakfast, Rolf Harris slipped his hand up her skirt and touched her thighs.

Twitter users apparently launched into a tirade of abuse, taunts and personal attacks on her.

Very, =(

I'm looking through some pictures on the internet and someone has found a passport, people around the wreckage, looking at parts and stuff, i hope they don't take any of it to keep.

Has a shootdown been Confirmed yet...

Something stinks about it, Ukraine are crying terrorism, the rebels have laid the blame on the Ukranian Military...whatever has happened, we can't forget the 300 souls on board who have tragically lost there lives...

EDIT

So initial reports state it was shot down by a single S.A.M, nobody seems sure whether it happened in Ukranian or Russian sovereign territory...I hope and pray the already hostile situation does not blow up even further, but everybody needs to get round the table(Ukraine Gov't, Russian Gov't and East Ukranian Seperatists) and get some dialogue started before it blows up into an all out war

Just been looking at the BBC and Sky's reports and found the following:

- US Vice President Joe Biden is apparently saying the plane was shot down, his quote being "not an accident, blown out of the sky."

- Newly appointed Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond believes there were Britons on-board, but doesn't know the exact figure.

- The Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has said the aircraft did not make a distress call.

It certainly points towards the aircraft being shot down.

Yeah, everything points to a shoot down now, I just hope the already hostile atmosphere in that part of the world does not blow up even further...

How much worse can it get for Malaysian Airlines this year as MH370 is still yet to be found...

Just a daft observation is there some kind of unwritten rule that there will always be a couple of people who have a lucky escape and live to fight another day by missing the flight for whatever reason

I know it is wrong, but that comment made me laugh...

I really hope cooler heads can prevail here and it does not escalate into all out war, you have the Ukrainian Government blaming the Rebels, The Rebels blaming the Ukrainian Military and Russia saying it is the responsibility of the Ukrainian Government...

If it is in fact separatists who have done this, then the Russians have to answer some tough questions, where are rebels getting there firepower from, have they plundered Ukrainian military bases or are they getting armed courtesy of Mr Putin???

I think it has been confirmed Moscow are backing them in a number of ways.
There may be stolen Ukrainian weapons amongst their kit too.

With Syrians having Russian kit (amongst the British chemicals) the Taliban having Russian kit and no doubt Hezbollah having some too - it makes you wonder.
