RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - Swiny1 - 05 Jan 2018 Ive just had a very brief look at the timetables (to hungover) so will percy main be doing the short 5' s on a night? No. As the short journeys return from Jarrow to North Shields and then do the full route. RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - V514DFT - 05 Jan 2018 ive thought for a while now that GNE would merge the 28 since they seem to like their routes to be 2 days long atm probably the 34 too RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - JP6004 - 05 Jan 2018 (05 Jan 2018, 12:37 pm)V514DFT wrote ive thought for a while now that GNE would merge the 28 since they seem to like their routes to be 2 days long atm probably the 34 too Yes the 34 and 36 could be merged if required RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - Michael - 05 Jan 2018 (03 Jan 2018, 3:52 pm)Jimmi wrote Here's the info on service changs as I'm sure everyone wants to know them. Full details now on the Go North East site with links to timetables although we know them thought i would share anyway... Its easier to access timetables. RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - Andreos1 - 05 Jan 2018 (05 Jan 2018, 1:03 pm)JP6004 wrote Yes the 34 and 36 could be merged if required 28 and southern portion of the 34? 36 and northern portion of the 34? Can't remember if GNE got the Chester Town services or not. There's defineately the option to curtail and merge if they did. RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - JP6004 - 05 Jan 2018 (05 Jan 2018, 3:06 pm)Andreos1 wrote 28 and southern portion of the 34? Yes would be better than just having a circular like at the moment RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - Andreos1 - 05 Jan 2018 (05 Jan 2018, 3:13 pm)JP6004 wrote Yes would be better than just having a circular like at the moment The only issue I have with that sort of service, is obviously someone always loses out. When they removed the circular element from the Birtley - Washington services, it left some passengers in the position of being able to get the bus home from the shops - even though they couldn't get the bus to the shops. If the buses merged like we were discussing (I can definitely see advantages in doing so), it would ultimately leave some passengers in Chester in a similar position to those in Birtley. Someone may be able to take their kids to school on the bus, but not get them home. The 34 still goes to chester regardless. So people would still be able to get there and back RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - Andreos1 - 05 Jan 2018 (05 Jan 2018, 5:15 pm)JP6004 wrote The 34 still goes to chester regardless. So people would still be able to get there and back Aye they would, but possibly not school. Say they were at Bullion Lane Primary school and lived in Waldridge Park. Bus down to school potentially. Canny walk home at the end of the day. Whereas now, they can get a bus in both directions. RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - JP6004 - 05 Jan 2018 (05 Jan 2018, 5:25 pm)Andreos1 wrote Aye they would, but possibly not school. Easily solved by having a 36 and 36A going round the circular in opposite directions. Just like 93 amd 94 RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - L469 YVK - 06 Jan 2018 Speaking of the Devil, although somebody did mention North Tyneside the other day and although I thought that nothing could be merged, if GNE wanted to stop going tit for tat with Arriva and form their own niche market, they could do this. Now I'll spend some weeks creating some timing and allocation samples for the below and other routes but here's a sneek preview. CoastCityLinks Service 58 Every 12 minutes * Heworth - Leam Lane Estate - Felling Square - Deckham - Gateshead - Newcastle City Centre - Cradlewell - Coast Road - Battle Hill - Cobalt - Whitley Bay - Seaton Sluice - Blyth Service 58X * Same route and frequency as X39 interworking with 59/59A. '59' Service 59 Every 20 minutes * North Shields - Meadowell - West Chirton - Middle Engine Lane - Battle Hill - High Farm - Coast Road - Cradlewell - Newcastle Haymarket '59' Service 59A Every 20 minutes * Hadrian Park - Battle Hill - High Farm - Coast Road - Cradlewell - Newcastle Haymarket RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2 - V514DFT - 06 Jan 2018 (29 Nov 2017, 7:23 pm)missedbus wrote No-one (except enthusiasts, perhaps!), would be likely to travel from North Shields to, say, Whiteleas Estate on the 5 (likely to be around an hour). It would be far quicker to take the ferry and a bus from South Shields (35-40 minutes). I feel this has only been done for operational convenience to ensure the cross-river link was still provided after the service changes with the diversion of the 9, and not primarily to introduce a new link. At least the first 704 (18:41 ex-Stanley) currently runs off the Minis. Is this transferring over too? Looking at the timetable it doesn’t look like it will be, but thought i’d ask anyway. Looking at the timetable it doesn’t look like it will be, but thought i’d ask anyway. 704 will run off the 30 - first trip arrives into Stanley at 18:39, then out again at 18:41 on 704. The late evening journeys on the Metrocentre Mini will remain operated by Stanley, with Streetlites as present. That would explain why I saw Solo 697 at Harton Nook the other day with a number of drivers on - route learning! Out of observation they are quite a reserve of services, for example service 29 can often gain several passengers from the 53/54 if it turns up first, the 67/69 has its regulars but can often pick up passengers that would often use the likes of the Q1/Q2 and 93/94. It’s been awhile since I’ve been through Gateshead area, are 29/67/69/95 secured services? There is no way that the car park can be judged suitable for a bus in its current state.
