Would love to see some old school competition - that has a lasting legacy for passengers. I shall live in hope, or wait until the QCS battle shows the public what really goes on RE: Arriva North East - Latest - chrisnorthern - 16 Nov 2013 Many thanks for the reply and link Dan. I didn't search back far enough! RE: Arriva North East - Latest - peter - 16 Nov 2013 Despite the fact 7456 has been withdrawn for quite some time and is not on the fleetlist, probably at Barnsley by now so don't see how it can be at Alnwick. This was the info passed on when that article was first posted, Peter. If you refer to the date, you can see it is not November. I assume it was correct at the time. Had me raking through allocation sheets and fleet lists there! Ta for clearing that up, Tony. RE: Arriva North East - Latest - peter - 16 Nov 2013 Sorry guys my mistake! the picture of 7456 shows a picture of it and 7265 (a now withdrawn olympian probably in Barnsley) and for some reason I was really thick and thought 7456 was the Olympian (and a Lowlander was a type of Olympian) completely ignoring the second bus (7456) on the picture. I think I should stick to what I know best (Darlington, Stockton and Redcar depots). RE: Arriva North East - Latest - Dan - 16 Nov 2013 (16 Nov 2013, 6:53 pm)peter wrote Sorry guys my mistake! the picture of 7456 shows a picture of it and 7265 (a now withdrawn olympian probably in Barnsley) and for some reason I was really thick and thought 7456 was the Olympian (and a Lowlander was a type of Olympian) completely ignoring the second bus (7456) on the picture. RE: Arriva North East - Latest - peter - 16 Nov 2013 I am not having a good night, thinking 7456 is 7265 and thinking 7265 was an Olympian. At least it proves I cannot multitask. Note to self: never look at Arriva Fleet News and watch BBC IPlayer at the same time! RE: Arriva North East - Latest - Andreos1 - 18 Nov 2013 I have put it in this thread to keep it going, rather than the GNE thread. Heading into Durham this morning on a Prince Bishops, the section between the A690 and Gilesgate is GNE territory, with passengers only being able to get the 20/20a (there were a few mutterings about loosing the x22). Beyond there, passengers have the choice of GNE or ANE and what I saw surprised me. Passengers were choosing to stand in the rain, queuing to get on a 64 (I think), rather than get on the 20 which pulled in behind it. Those who did get on the 20 were pass holders of one kind or another or were wanting day tickets to other GNE strongholds. The driver didn't go to the extent gtomlinsons 724 driver did and shout out to passengers, but when in front of the ANE bus, it would pull into the stop regardless of whether the passengers put their hand out or not, to invite them on. I'm assuming that you're referring to the Gilesgate section - I've noticed on the 64 we seem to get quite a few passengers, possibly because of the fare difference or maybe the fact that the 64 drops people off at the Market Place? RE: Arriva North East - Latest - Andreos1 - 18 Nov 2013 (18 Nov 2013, 2:28 pm)palatine3833 wrote I'm assuming that you're referring to the Gilesgate section - I've noticed on the 64 we seem to get quite a few passengers, possibly because of the fare difference or maybe the fact that the 64 drops people off at the Market Place? Yeah, the section of Sunderland Road from Gilesgate Moor down to Sherburn Road Ends was where I was referring to. I haven't bought a single from that neck of the woods for a long time, so not sure of the price difference. Locals seemed to know which bus they preferred though. I thought about the Market Place too, but the stop on Leazes Road isn't that far from where the 64 stops on Claypath - so getting to the market or that part of Durham is possibly 6 and 2 three's. Have you noticed if passengers stay on beyond the City Centre going to the hospital/Arnison Centre etc? RE: Arriva North East - Latest - tyresmoke - 18 Nov 2013 Probably worth mentioning Darlington loaned 2 vehicles to Durham for Lumiere, 1791 and 4052. I'm sure they enjoyed having them... I'm sure they enjoyed having them... It will have been about 8ish on Friday morning, I believe I passed them as they headed north on the A1. Both being driven by fitters by the looks of it. Didn't think anything of it at the time. RE: Arriva North East - Latest - Kuyoyo - 18 Nov 2013 (18 Nov 2013, 8:37 pm)Dan wrote I noted 7504 on the PR1 on Saturday... Not sure how many others/what else was transferred. As previously mentioned - Redcar loaned 7501/4/12/3 to Durham for the weekend while Stockton loaned 4045 and 4069 to Redcar. RE: Arriva North East - Latest - palatine3833 - 19 Nov 2013 Arriva Durham have today been branding up some of the 61-plate Pulsars as 'A Captain's Tale' for use on service 6 between Durham and West Auckland/Cockfield. I'm not sure how many have been done as of yet as they have been getting done throughout the day. RE: Arriva North East - Latest - VolvoMarkII - 19 Nov 2013 A bit like The Angel! RE: Arriva North East - Latest - Dan - 20 Nov 2013 Another "Sapphire" branded Pulsar has just been delivered to Jesmond about 15 minutes ago. Like I'd enter the deep dark areas of Jesmond at half 7 in the morning! Just woke up 20 mins ago - had the message passed onto me. As for how many are there, I don't know - the ones which arrived previously were sent back to Wrights; for later return. RE: Arriva North East - Latest - tyresmoke - 20 Nov 2013 1516 was the first to be delivered to Darlington last week, although more have arrived since then. The launch should be in early December. There was a 6 branded bus on the 24 yesterday RE: Arriva North East - Latest - palatine3833 - 20 Nov 2013 They were operating on absolutely anything, since when the vehicles were allocated on the morning, they were unbranded - hopefully should all be on the 6 from now. As some of the traffic lights in Gateshead take around 2mins to change and the Angel runs every 7/8 mins & has lots of traffic light controlled junctions to negotiate, it's unfortunately fairly easy for 2 end up together. Whereas a 12 min frequency which has lights at the New Inn & not that many more.......... |
