The humble 43 has been elevated to the Max by 7609.

Glad it's a decker, too as the queue is out of the door of the bus station.

Replaced 1909, and has since been replaced by 1417

RE: Arriva North East: Rare & Odd Workings - December 2015 - tyresmoke - 19 Dec 2015

1468 has been doing the rounds on service 17 all day too
1444 only covered one 5A earlier, not been on all day. In place of 1552 (which then replaced it when it got back)

I wonder why Durham's Sapphire allocations on services 22/24 seem to go to pot on Sundays? Seems to be every week - at least on the 22 to Sunderland..?

God knows, pretty poor show though. The fact that even the standard liveried Pulsars are appearing pretty much every week makes it even more laughable as it's not as if Belmont are short of Sapphire buses, there's 30 in total and this is what the PVR's for the Belmont Sapphire routes on Sundays (I think):

6: PVR 2
7: PVR 0 - Darlington run all the 7's on Sunday's.
22: PVR 3
24: PVR 3

Also don't agree with how the X12 is ran by Stockton on Sunday's, with some MAX buses appearing but standard liveried examples also working the service as well.

The X12 interworks with the 17, 27/27A and 28B on a Sunday to save on resources.

Everything at Stockton - bar the 5, 7A and 15 - interwork in some way on Sundays (Buses do 9s break then the 17/27/27a/28b/X12 cycle, or do 27a/27 break and so on). To take the X12s out, you'd then end up with buses having long layovers between trips as there used to be when the 9 and 27/27a ran on their own. The 17 can't be done in an hour while running to Ingleby. 28Bs can't fit into an hour and it's not worth running it half hourly. The way it works is the most effective way.

I do understand that it is done to be more efficient but I still feels that it cheapens the brand and just makes the whole point of route branding pointless in some ways. Stockton aren't the only ones who do this on Sundays, Darlington have the 7 interworking with the 19 on Sundays which is not ideal but at least the allocation on the Sapphire 7 is not compromised by this.

As had already been stated above your post.

Including the two X66/X67 branded examples, there are six MAX specification VDL Pulsars in the fleet at Stockton.

Would it not make more sense to allocate these six vehicles as first point of call, followed by the Sapphire specification VDL Pulsar, assuming it is not required for the 5/5A? That way, the premium features advertised on the X12 service would still be available, while other services it interworks with are upgraded?

It really puts Arriva at risk of customers claiming 'no quibble' money back guarantees, on the basis that they haven't had the premium features advertised on their journey.

7 buses still won't cover the amount of boards that works X12s. On a Sunday there are 12 27 running boards and only 2 of those don't work any trips on the X12. So, in effect, you'll still end up with at least 3 vehicles that aren't to 'MAX' standard. However, don't forget, Stockton has 7 unbranded standard Pulsars fitted with WiFi (1457-60/91/2/4) so they can effectively cover the boards.

Didn't forget that the standard VDL Pulsars feature the provision of free Wi-Fi, but is it advertised?

Any customers that disable Wi-Fi when they're not connected to a network wouldn't know that the bus had free Wi-Fi - only those that leave it enabled would know, as they would be prompted to connect by their smartphone.
