As much as we'd love to see something better than the StreetDecks on the Castles Express, I think they will stay put for the time being.

If GNE really wanted them off the Castles Express, they would've went with a mixed fleet allocation for the Cobalt Clippers (sending 7x refurbed B9TLs to Crook) and allocated them primarily to boards running late into the evening.

Why Cobalt, could swap them with Deptfords B9's for the 56?

I think they'll take them off the X21 as they are poor reliability wise, they seem to spend more time at Chester-Le-Street than anywhere else which maybe the best place for them on the 13/14 & X25.

It would also help standardise the fleet at Chester also.

Nope 7x Streetdecks would go perfect on 310 PVR and that’s not the case for the 56. Not everything can go to Deptford.

Can’t see them going on either Durham Diamond or Castle Express yet as both are sort of new 16 Regs may be 1 or 2 years then possibly as some reported the Durham Diamond has seen increasing passenger numbers. (Believe so)

Are GNE starting to focus mainly on the enviros now?

Optare MetroDeckers for 56 / X1 / 327 (Be hints on for years that it's getting new buses).
Optare MetroCity (or Versa) for the 4

Interesting move if true

Can't comment on performance of them, never been on them.. never had a chance to go on the demo's due to work...

RE: Go North East: 2018/19 Financial Year Order Predictions - Rapidsnap - 13 Mar 2019

Well I have heard an unnamed Operator (in addition to those ordered by Metroline and Reading Buses) has ordered some Optare MetroDeckers.

Hopefully Go North East then, need something different after all the Wright stuff they've had in the last few years!!

It wouldn't matter if they were allocated to the 309 or 310 as some boards will still probably (need Dan to confirm this)interwork during the early evening between 4.30 and 6.30. The B9TLs although fab on the Cobalt Clippers are a little on the heavy side in terms of fuel. Going by what drivers have mentioned, the B9TLs will only be getting a refurb. No vehicle movements or swaps.

I think so given they've ordered Enviros for the East Yorkshire network.

Thing is EYMS has had ADL Enviros of various shapes and sizes in their fleet for a good number of years now plus with the ADL factory at Scarborough being in the EYMS operating area, it would make the company image better if they are supporting local jobs. West Midlands did it for a number of years with MCW until they went kaput (MCW that is), Fishwicks were same with Leyland vehicles.

I would agree with the amount of trials the 4 has had in the last few weeks, this route will most likely get new buses, whether 200MMC or Metrocity i'm not sure, although i did have a drive or the Metrocity when Stanley had it and its a much better drive than the current streetlites. With the red arrows not getting refurbed (just internal update), i again think that this will get 400MMCs. But something mentioned on our grapevine at Stanley is the "new depot new buses" theory, so i wouldn't rule out the Red Kite from going all double deck in the form of either 400MMC or Metrodecker. Some might argue that the 45/46/47 doesn't need the capacity, but in my opinion at peak times, loadings would suggest and thinking of those routes with older vehicles 6/35/93/94/97/97A/X30/X31 are GNE willing to spend money on brand new buses when the figures might not add up, or cascade from routes that are making money?.

RE: Go North East: 2018/19 Financial Year Order Predictions - Panasonic44 - 14 Mar 2019

Would Crusader get DD off the other routes when they get newer buses.

Was hoping for environs for Crusader DD for 27 and e200s for 26.

No, all of these vehicles are purely for the North East operations.

East Yorkshire also have new vehicles on order, although they are separate.

If the Red Arrows B9's are receiving re-trims in standard Go Ahead trim, maybe they are being cascaded to EYMS. Just a thought!

(13 Mar 2019, 5:48 pm)Dan wrote It's been a while since we've last had some activity in this thread...

Go North East MD Martijn Gilbert was the guest speaker at a group meeting of the Northern Group Enthusiasts Club yesterday evening. During the talk, Martijn confirmed that Go North East have placed an order for 44 new vehicles this year (33 double-deck and 11 single-deck).

With this extra detail now in our hands, does anyone want to have another guess at which vehicles may have been ordered, and for which services?

Does this include the 9 electric buses for the q3 or saltwell park.

No way these could go around by Asda/Ikea and the Debenhams/House of Fraser end of the MetroCentre car park on the X66 or intu Eldon Square/Peterlee Bus Station for that matter, then you have the u-turn outside Billingham Asda to contend with also.

Standard sized deckers would be more suited for these services.

Withdrawing the X66 there and bring the S1 back

As far as eldon square goes they could change the Newcastle stop to market street however I don't know about peterlee and billingham

Volvo B8TL / ADL Enviro 400XLB for X9 / X10 maybe in the future, but I don't think it be in the next 2 years.
