No need for them in the ANE fleet really, come the end of 2014 the only minibuses we will have will be the 05 plate MPDs and a bunch of Solos. And even then that's too many! RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - Andy - 03 Sep 2014 What will be happening with all of the coaches? Will jim hughes get them ? Wouldn't be surprised to see classic vehicles move to jh coaches when operations are finally wound up, seen as the md is john shipley (classic md ian shipleys son). RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - BUSFAN - 05 Sep 2014 Is Classic winding up sorry if i have misread the last few posts but by the sounds of things it seems that way RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - Roland Pratt - 06 Sep 2014 (02 Sep 2014, 9:26 pm)tyresmoke wrote No need for them in the ANE fleet really, come the end of 2014 the only minibuses we will have will be the 05 plate MPDs and a bunch of Solos. RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - Philly rf - 06 Sep 2014 It might be best that they do sent minibuses to ane because it will release some of the elderly minibuses for scrap RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - Jimmi - 16 Sep 2014 On VOSA today. RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - citaro5284 - 01 Oct 2014 Northern Echo is reporting 42 staff have been made redundant. http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/business/news/11506552.Bus_company_makes_redundancies/?ref=mr Re: RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - Adrian - 01 Oct 2014 (01 Oct 2014, 6:00 pm)citaro5284 wrote Northern Echo is reporting 42 staff have been made redundant.Something I've never thought about before, but certainly related. If say Operator A ran a contract for Nexus with a PVR of 4. If Operator B then won that work from Nexus, would TUPE apply for the 4 staff required to drive that contract? When GNE won the Quaylink contract, the Stagecoach staff were Tupe'd across. RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - Andreos1 - 01 Oct 2014 It mentions the transfer of staff on the scholars work and others into Arriva, so guessing TUPE has applied in some cases. Obviously there are those who have chosen to take redundancy and those who were made redundant. Guessing there are some roles at Classic, that don't fit into the Arriva model too, like those staff who took bookings for holidays. Hopefully staff can pool together to maybe set up a new operator... RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - RM2186 - 01 Oct 2014 Or maybe find employment within the recently expanded Jim Hughes operation! RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - nk55 - 02 Oct 2014 Such a shame a great company has been sent to the wall. First the asset stripping by tellings and penny pinching by arriva. Feel for those i used to work with. RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - BUSFAN - 02 Oct 2014 (02 Oct 2014, 4:31 am)nk55 wrote Such a shame a great company has been sent to the wall. First the asset stripping by tellings and penny pinching by arriva. Feel for those i used to work with. I never thought Classic would cease trading as i can recall not too long ago when it was the premier North East Coach operator and also a major Bus service provider but that was when it was a independent with the slogan no part of the Northern Group this was in the days of the Classicliner to rival Northern and its superliner. RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - Andy - 02 Oct 2014 A lot of coach drivers were transferred to Jim Hughes as I've seen then and recognised them RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - nk55 - 02 Oct 2014 Yes i've seen a few former classic employees with jh coaches and arriva ( jesmond & durham ), will say when tgm took the vast majority of the skiplan & pgl work years ago and not forgetting the new coaches, then tgm lost the contracts ( not surprising in them days), classic were never going to be as good as they once were. Just hope jh coaches can be a good replacement. RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - LeeCalder - 29 Dec 2014 I'm looking for the Classic Buses timetable for the 23 or 23/23A if anybody has it available? Also the 184? Also the 184? Classic seized trading in September RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - LeeCalder - 30 Dec 2014 I know Classic operated the 23 about 4 years ago. Not recently. RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - S813 FVK - 30 Dec 2014 Since Classic have ceased all operations and have completely cleared their Annfield Plain depot, there is still the caravans storage section (which they own). Not 1 person who has a caravan (or trailer for general use/business use) has been told what is happening whether they should be thinking about moving or whether another company has purchased the site. Very poor service. RE: Classic Coaches/TGM Group - JHCoaches - 30 Dec 2014 Robert, This information is factually incorrect... The site is owned by Arriva not Classic. We have not owned the site since October 2004, all contact regarding the site should be referred to John Stokoe - Property Manager, Arriva, Doxford Park, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear.
