WTF, OAPs being raided, what there doing, drug dealing or selling smuggled duty free? Speaking of which, he hasn't been about much recently. Used to get upto Lambton quite a bit, but you probably weren't living in Lambton during my heydey - over a period of time, I had a girlfriend in 3 consecutive streets and enjoyed trolley rides home from The Oasis (when it was the place to be). I hadn't long been off the w2 or 3 (can't remember which) before it ploughed through someone's front window one day either. It wasn't that long ago that The Highwayman was raided if I remember correctly. Last Year that was when The Highwayman got Raided, I believe it's one of those Pubs being Monitored by the Police, as there is CCTV Posters on a few of the Windows, I also believe it is up for Sale again. For a moment there I thought you meant the Highwayman bus . Haha nope, GNE should perhaps Brand the M2/M3 as Highwayman as stops Directly outside the Pub, and Rebrand the 97 etc Something else, All joking aside I think we should perhaps get back on the Topic of GNE, And this Conversation for the Off Topic Thread. While we may have the odd Drugs Raid, at least we don't have people threatening to commit suicide and have a Several Hour stand off with the Police. RE: Go North East - Latest - Davey Bowyer - 21 Jan 2014 I think that GNE are in a perfect position buying the B9TL's for the 309 and more people will hopefully use it between Blyth and New York to Newcastle City Centre. The added bonus is that the 309's timetable could accomodate a full double decker and still make a seift and relatively quick journey, but Arriva's 308 can't do that and the odd time I've got the 308 home instead, it could only keep to time every now and then whilst making safe and relatively quick progress. Put it this way, if Arriva need to add a few more minutes to the 308 the next time they revise the buses, GNE with a bit of marketing luck, could boost the 309 passenger numbers of people travelling from between Blyth and New York to Newcastle and back. RE: Go North East - Latest - speedwheels22 - 21 Jan 2014 The 58 city link needed bigger buses so they get versas :s smaller buses liked it when they had the mercedes on, RE: Go North East - Latest - G-CPTN - 21 Jan 2014 Should routes be served by vehicles sized to manage the maximum capacity, or should timetables be staggered according to demand throughout the day? Whatever happened to DUPLICATEs? - you never see them nowadays whereas they used to be commonplace in the 1950s. The demand from the shipyards (long gone) at starting and finishing times meant long queues for buses, but those days are over . . . RE: Go North East - Latest - Davey Bowyer - 21 Jan 2014 I'm surprised that they've kept the 58 beyond Newcastle to Hadrian Park. One suggestion from me though would be to curtail the 58 at Eldon Square and have it running every 7-8 minutes during the day then every 15 minutes evemings and Sundays. Then between Haymarket and Hadrian Park, introduce a 15 minute (30 evenings and Sundays) service 305 operating the same route as the 309 to Battle Hill then into Hadrian Park. It would streamline the 3 services between Newcastle and Battle Hill with the exception of the Coast Road Rising Sun Pub and High Farm. It would form a 4-6 minute frequency between Battle Hill and Newcastle during the day then approximately every 15 minutes during the evening then approximately every 10 minutes on a Sunday daytime. RE: Go North East - Latest - tyresmoke - 21 Jan 2014 (21 Jan 2014, 9:05 pm)G-CPTN wrote Should routes be served by vehicles sized to manage the maximum capacity, or should timetables be staggered according to demand throughout the day? Gone are the days of operating the same frequency all day long, timetables now need to match the demand from your customers and that's why express services like the X9/X39 to Cobalt run at peak times at the expense of other journeys. Changes like this are being seen on Teesside now too with the changes to Arriva services in February. Duplicates don't happen as the companies simply don't have the spare vehicles and/or drivers to operate them. Pretty sure it was explained before as it still having the same amount of seats per hour at peak loading times, as there was an extra bus chucked in? Might be completely off the mark like..
